The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), on Thursday, declared emerging http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 batsman and the captain of Bengal team, Manoj Tiwary, as the best cricketer of the year.
The best women cricketer of the year’s award went to the Indian women's cricket team skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jhulan-Goswami-c66974, for her outstanding performance as team captain as well as the spearhead pacer.
Tiwary, a 25-year-old right-handed batsman from Bengal, grabbed the attention of cricket fans and cricket pundits with a successful IPL season with Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knight-c71599 Riders, earlier this year. The Bengal skipper compiled a tally of 359 runs
from 14 innings at an average of 51.28.
The CAB on Thursday also announced the wicketkeeper batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/WP-Saha-c2800, as the gentleman cricketer of the year.
Ritam Porel was adjudged as the best under-22 cricketer of the year while Mandira Mohapatra won the best woman under-19 cricketer award.
The CAB also announced award winners at the district level. Manbhum Sports Association’s Prakash Singh was declared as the best under-19 cricketer. Aritra Mukherjee of North 24-Parganas District Sports Association won the under-16 award while under-14 cricketer

The working committee of Cricket Association http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bengal-c771 will meet on Friday, July 08, 2011 as well. It has been reported that in Friday’s meeting the working committee will decide the winner of the lifetime achievement award.
Koushik Pramanik of Saidabad Manindra Chandra Vidyapith, Murshidabad won the school under-16 award and Sany Das of Rabindra Bharati University was adjudged as the best university cricketer.
CAB joint secretary, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sujan-Mukherjee-c91692, revealed that the association has decided not to give any bowling award this year because of the "mediocre performance" of bowlers in the last season.
The Bengal association also gave awards to the umpires. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Soumen-Singh-c90738 won category-IV award.
The prize distribution ceremony is scheduled to be held on Saturday, July 23.
