Cricket Australia to seeks David Boon’s replacement in Selection committee – Cricket News Update
Cricket Australia (CA) is set to hunt for a substitute of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/David-Clarence-Boon-c52728, the former Australian batsman and current member of the Kangaroo selection committee, who has been appointed as a match referee by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Boon will quit his current job after finalising the Aussies squad for the Sri Lanka tour. The board management will have to bring in a new selector immediately as the team is scheduled to tour South Africa later this summer.
A CA spokesperson revealed, “We will move to replace him in the fullness of time - at some point after we have chosen the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 squad and before we need to choose the South African squads is the broad thinking.”
Boon is to replace http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 match referees after Alan announced his retirement.
After the confirmation of his new job last month, Boon said, “Having played first-class cricket for nearly two decades and having been involved in marketing, cricket administration and national selection matters, I think I bring a lot of experience to the
group which includes some of the most respected names in the sport.”
The 50-year-old Boon had been an excellent top-order batsman of his time. He played 107 Tests and 181 ODIs for his nation with 7422 and 5964 runs respectively.
Boon announced his retirement from the international cricket in January 1996.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 is of great importance for the hosts as they have to get financial sponsorships resumed after winning it. Analysts fear that if the Proteas lose the series, they will have to suffer more without moral and economic support.
Some cricket experts argue that any new selector in the CA will have to pass through keen surveillance as the issue of Simon Katich has turned the face of media http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SO-Tikolo-c2546 towards the Australian selectors.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SM-Katich-c2543, a brilliant Kangaroo batsman, has been recently axed by the selection panel from the list of 20 elite contractees, despite the fact that he has a marvellous batting average of 50 in the Test format of the game.
This issue has provoked the Australian cricket fans and experts to criticise the selectors for being biased.
