Cricket Australia to start Ashes review tomorrow
Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 is holding a crucial meeting in Melbourne on 7 February, 2011; the directors of the board are likely to start a review of the Ashes campaign failure.
The main agenda of the meeting is to get to the bottom of the humiliating 3-1 defeat in which
England completed their first Ashes win Down Under in 24 years.
Australian Cricket Board’s spokesman, Peter Young told the media that the meeting will not only assess the performance of the players in the series, but will also take into account everything that contributed to that performance.
“The feeling is that's not something you can do in 24 hours or two weeks, it's going to take time. The objective is to understand what we need to understand to ensure we're in a winning position when we next play the Ashes and when we host the 2015 World
Cup,” he said.
The review will be headed by someone independent from CA, possibly from the corporate sector.
"What we're keen on is someone external with expertise that would allow them to manage a review, and we're looking at a range of people across corporate Australia," a CA spokesman said
According to the Australian Associated Press, former captain Steve Waugh may be selected as an overseer or contributor in the review.
The pivotal board meeting will also evaluate some fundamental changes in domestic cricket. The board will finalise eight new teams that will feature in the next season’s Big Bash League, where the traditional states will not participate.
The Big Bash League will feature city-based teams in all the states capitals, including two new expansion sides in South Wales and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Victoria-c859.
