Cricket Australia to use special equipments and drinks for players in UAE series against Pakistan – Cricket News Update
Cricket Australia on Thursday revealed that it will do “everything possible” to keep its players fit and cool in the upcoming limited-overs series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, to be played in the summer heat of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in August and September.
The main focus of the Australian support staff will be the drinks to be used by the players during the series. Besides, the Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 is also arranging special medical equipments to keep a continuous check on players’ physical fitness, revealed CA’s
General Manager (Public Affairs), Peter Young.
“I have liased with Mr http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alex-Kountouris-c43123, the Aust’n team physiotherapist, who confirms the standard processes we use to manage hydration when we regularly play cricket in hot weather, including here in Australia, will be used in the UAE,” the Cricket Australia
General Manager (Public Affairs), Peter Young told media while speaking from Melbourne.
“For example, we will be using ice baths, and pre-cooling strategies such as iced drinks, electrolyte drinks such as Gatorade, and the measurement of hydration status with analysis of body weight and urine analysis”, Young explained.
Cricket Australia last month agreed to play Pakistan’s home itinerary on neutral venues of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033, in August-September. The itinerary comprises three One Day Internationals and an equal number of T20 Internationals, to be played between
August 28 and September 10.
To avoid the worst of the heat in the UAE, the PCB and CA agreed to play all the matches at night. The one-dayers are scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm local time, and end at 1;45 am, the next day, while the T20Is will begin at 8:00 pm and end at 11.
A few CA officials, including Australian cricket team manager, last week visited all the three venues in the UAE scheduled to host the limited-overs series, to check the arrangements made by the hosts to counter the UAE heat.

It may be recalled here that the Cricket Australia had initially expressed concerns over playing in UAE, in summer, citing the harsh weather conditions, as average shade temperatures in UAE in the months of August-September stay around 40 degrees.
