Cricket Bat Toe Swelling Due to moisture, How to fix?

Hey i was in the nets with my new GM Catalyst bat. I had knocked it in for around 3 hours after being told no knocking in was required by the shop (best to be safe). However, stupidly i'd forgotten to get a toe guard. I thought that in one session i couldn't do too much harm. Big mistake, the toe swelled in the smallest amount of water on the net mat. It has come out about 5 mm further than it should be.

I read on a website i should let it dry then i can knock it back in. Is this true? Or is there a better way of fixing it? I'm buying a toe guard tomorrow.
