Cricket -- Great cricket auction..what is the difference between the auction done in ancient days with this ?

Indian cricketers on the bid gone for good US Dollors. They were sold and someone or some organisation connected or not connected taken in the bid. These are all ok.. what is the difference between this auction and the auction of girls by someone which was taken by someone to highest bid in some centuries ago? i disagree with my friend who says that this cricketers are slaves, since they came to the market for auction. i had a fight with him. i explained him that this is for IPL team taking etc., He disagrees with me. i told him that i will put your doubt in y/a and believe what the team members of y/a says. Finally, he agreed to accept the answers of our yahoo members. Now please answer.... is there any differene for the auction of girls in the market in some centuries back and with the auction of cricketers in the market in the 21st century. ?

I feel you are connecting the ancient slavery history with this modern world.  This is cricket.  This is all approved by the cricket board. The ancient auction is nothing to do with this. Explain this to your friend and ask him to see for details websites concerned where details are available about cricket auction.
