Inswinger and outswinger means the ball either moves from left to right or right to left, right? A ball can only move in two directions sidewards, left to right or right to left, right?

In that case what is the difference with reverse swing. The ball has to move from left to right or right to left, in what direction does it move in reverse swing if not left to right or right to left?

Now don't bother with left hand over or round the wicket, or right hand round the wicket etc.

If the ball can only move laterally from left to right or right to left, what is the difference between that and reverse swing. What direction does the ball move when it reverse swings? The answer must be something other then left to right or right to left, otherwise it is just an inswinger or outswinger

  1. ball always swings reverse from shiny side.. but in reverse swing its swing opposite

  2. An in swinger is the term used when the ball swings into the batsman in flight, an out swinger is the term used when the ball swings away from the batsman in flight, the revers swing is the term used when the ball swings one way in flight but then swings the other way at the last minute, all swings are created by the way the bowler holds the ball and the way his arm travails over his/her shoulder and where the arm ends up after the delivery, across the body for the out swinger to a right handed batsman, down between the legs or to the outside of the body for the in swinger to a right handed batsman, the shiny side of the ball facing away from the direction of the swing except for the revers swing where the shiny side faces the way of the initial swing so that aero dynamics takes over and swings the ball in the opposite direction

  3. WHAT IS REVERSE SWING?

Once the ball becomes older and more worn, it will begin to move in the opposite direction to where it would usually swing with no great change in the bowling grip.

For example, an outswinger's grip will move towards the batsman in the air while an inswinger will move away from the bat.

The grip is all important bowling reverse swing

All this tends to happen very late on in the delivery, making it difficult for the batsman to pick up the changes in the air.

Not every single bowler can obtain reverse swing - the ball needs to be propelled above 80mph or thereabouts to make it move in the air.

Former Pakistan international Sarfraz Nawaz was the founder of reverse swing during the late 1970s, and he passed his knowledge on to former team-mate Imran Khan.

It was Imran who schooled bowlers Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, who brought the art to the cricket world's attention during the late 1980s and 1990s.

The dynamic duo managed to make the old ball swing a considerable distance at pace in both directions, a skill few bowlers can master.

  4. If the ball moves to right it's inswing,if it moves to the left it's outswing but if the ball doesn't move as much as it should move then it's reverseswing. The batsman things that the ball will move normally but it doesn't do that and that causes the problem.

  5. reverse swing is where the ball swings the same way as what side the shiny side is. normal swing iswher itdoes the inverse. too high brow 4 u. some people think thats funny theese people are jerks. if any one says well u wrote it therefore you are a jerk, to them i say well sir, you read it and laughed!!!

  6. inswing is when ball moves into the batsmen outswing is when the ball moves away from the batsmen and reversswing is when the bowler is able to swap between swing without the batsmen knowing it
