The Director General of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), legendary Javed Miandad has said that to put Pakistani cricket in the right direction is his duty. In his reply to the show cause notice, that he received from the Chief Operating Officer of Pakistan Cricket Board Wasim Bari, about a breach of code of conduct, the former captain and coach of Pakistan cricket team slammed the PCB administration for lacking transparency in the affairs of board.

Power struggles among the members of the PCB and the unfair use of authority has made it more of a board of controversies than a board of Cricket. Every day the board officials have a new run-in. The biggest controversy among the PCB administration these days is the selection of the squad for the England tour. Even though the squad has started playing there and has won the T20 series, PCB members are squabbling.

Director General PCB Javed Miandad, was also among the former players who condemned the controversial squad for England and was issued a show cause notice for raising his voice against the selection policies followed by Chief Selector http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 has said that being a senior member of the board, he feels it his duty to help Pakistani cricket come out of its recent slump.

“Since I am an important part of senior management of the PCB in capacities as member PCB governing board as well as director general, I consider it my obligation to lend a hand to Pakistan cricket and the PCB to move in the right direction for the betterment of cricket in general and cricketers in particular”.

The former cricketer, at the same time has condemned Wasim Bari’s act of issuing him a show cause notice. He said that the Chief Operating Officer does not have the authority to write any such letter to any Governing Board member as it has been decided in a meeting of the Governing Board, when the issue of sending a show cause notice to another board member from the COO was raised by Dr Mohammad Ali Shah. The former captain said that the letter from the COO itself is a violation of the code of conduct as well as the policies of the Pakistan Cricket Board. The DG PCB requested the board to stop Bari from using any such communication mode for the Governing Board members in the future. He said that such matters among the board members should be solved by direct communication with the members rather than involving the media in the internal affairs of the board as it is damaging the prestige of the most prestigious sport’s governing body of Pakistan.

The former coach in the letter stated that being an experienced cricketer among the board members, he felt it was his obligation to the game and the nation to bring the wrongdoings to the light that might spoil http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket and the board.

Miandad said that he is well aware of the PCB policies governing the board. He further added that the board in itself has violated the selection policy. As per the policy of board, the Chief Selector is bound to take the unanimous consent of the members of Selection Committee before taking the final approval from the Chairman PCB.

“It is the policy of the board that all the selectors will sit down with their Chief Selector and select a team unanimously. After which the Chief Selector will take the approval of the PCB Chairman before announcing the team. In my opinion this procedure was not adopted in the recent selection and thus the act itself falls under the violation of the board’s policies”.

Miandad said that his cricketing past and his current post of DG PCB does not allow him to tolerate blatant unlawful activities in the board. He also warned the Chairman that in future he should not get any show cause notice as he reserves all rights to defend himself at all forums within the legal ambit available to him.
