Cricket Kenya declines from meeting the players who refused central contracts – Cricket News Update
The eight Kenyan players who had earlier declined the central contracts offered by the Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kenya-c752 found themselves in a big problem after the board declined their requests for a meeting.
"We decided that there wasn't any point in meeting the players," a board official told the media reporters on Tuesday.
The eight players who had turned down the Cricket Kenya’s Central contracts include http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Otieno-Ngoche-c65977.
These players refused to sign the central contracts raising objections on the new-style. It has been reported that the group was also trying to pressurize the board to reinstate the Kenyan players who were dumped by the board
following the team’s poor performance in the World Cup earlier this year.
The Kenyan cricketer have been using such tactics in the past as well and every time the board decided to climb-down. But this time CK did not back down and when it became clear to the players that the board would not step back,
they changed their demands to that of a call for increasing the pay.
Cricket Kenya offered them to arrange a meeting with the board officials and settle down the issue but the players refused from meeting with the CK management. After that, the board offered the central contracts to the new players
who were willing to play for the national side under the revised terms and conditions of Cricket Kenya.
Not only the board signed new players but also the local franchises of these eight players unanimously decided not to pick them again this season.
"The franchise teams have unanimously decided to suspend the players for the rest of the new competitions for this year which will deprive them of earnings and, as the national squad will be picked on the basis of performances
in these events, it will be a difficult few months for these players as a result of their actions," the board official added further.
