Cricket Kenya dismisses Jimmy Kamande from captaincy
Jimmy Kamande has been removed from his position as a captain from the Kenyan cricket team in the wake of their depressing performance in the recently concluded International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2011.
Moreover, Cricket Kenya has also sacked the coach, Eldine Baptiste, as part of their movement to refurbish the structure of their cricket team.
Kenya was the least performing team in the mega event concluded on April 2, 2011, as they were unable to win even a single match.
The board’s chief, Tom Sears, also confirmed that all the changes in the Kenyan cricket are being made as a part of their post World Cup review. He added that looking at the overall conditions of Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kenya-c752, the national squad won’t play any match until
July and the board is in process to appoint a new coach and a new selection panel. However, Sears said that there will be no replacement announced in the near future.
"It's important that when the coach and selectors begin their roles they have a blank sheet of paper to work from,” said Tom.
He said that the new selection panel will reassess all the talented players and will pick up those that possess immense potential and passion to be a part of their future plans. Tom asserted that the new selectors will have the authority to refer the player
they feel may lead the team in the best way by putting in all his efforts on and off the field and one who could really revive the Kenyan cricket.
Kamande was appointed as captain in October 2010 with great expectations but he remained unsuccessful in helping Kenyan cricket to make its position better.
Kenya’s miserable performance in the World Cup last month further decreased their chances to be a part of the next World Cup edition in light of ICC’s announcement on April 4, two days after the World Cup ended, that they have decided to trim the next edition
to ten full-member nations. However, the world’s cricket governing body had to face severe reactions from the associate and affiliate nations, especially from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 who bagged some stunning wins in the tournament. As a result, ICC has decided to reconsider
its decision on the request of its president, Sharad Pawar, in an annual conference to be held at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hong-Kong-c2919 in June.
