http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-c64193 Tahir who captured 4 wickets to break the back of the West Indian innings.
The West Indians were put into bat by the Protean captain Graeme Smith who had the conditions in mind at the Feroz Shah Kotla where the last ODI between Sri Lankan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 was abandoned due to a horrific pitch that was deemed dangerous for the batsmen.
The South African captain played a master stroke when he asked off-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Johan-Botha-c67173 to open the bowling. Botha made an immediate breakthrough by getting rid of the biggest West Indian threat of Chris Gayle who was snapped by the slip fielder Jacques Kallis.
After his departure the young pair of Devon Smith and Darren Bravo took the attack to the opposition, Bravo in particular played like one Brian Lara in full motion smashing the ball all over the park. He also struck a beautiful one handed six of Tahir and
looked a million dollars at the crease.
His stint ended when Botha trapped him lbw for 73 run knock that included 8 fours and 1 six.
His departure started a slide, after the second wicket had added 111 runs the rest of the batting caved in.
Tahir was in full motion; he started taking one wicket after another his first scalp was Smith who offered a return catch.
Tahir than accounted for Ramnaresh Sarwan, the West Indians showed signs of recovery through the other Bravo and Shiv Chanderpaul.
Dwayne Bravo was brilliantly run out by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morne-Morkel-c77722 after scoring 40 runs off only 37 balls, his innings included 3 fours and 1 six.
The last few wickets caved in without much of a fight at all, the much vaunted batting talent of Kieron Pollard was sent packing by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dale-c52110 Steyn for a duck.
Steyn bowled with sustained pace and swung the ball at the end of the innings to cast the end of the West Indian effort for 222.
In the meantime Tahir had added two more scalps to return with highly impressive match figures of 4/41 in 10 overs.
The South Africans have been set, a below par total of 223 runs and would start the second part of the innings as firm favourites.
