England was given a real wakeup call by the minnows of the World Cup Netherlands. The Dutch side showed that they are not there just to make up the numbers. Netherlands, batting first, posted a sizeable total of 292 for the loss of 6 wickets. They were led by an amazing century by Ryan ten Doeschate. England bowling line up was probably taken by surprise by the aggressive approach of the Dutch, and were found wanting at times.

However the highlight of the match was the partnership between Ryan ten Doeschate and Tom Cooper who put together an excellent stand for the 3rd wicket. Doeschate carried on and down the order got support from Tom de Grooth. Doeschate really cut lose once the final overs approached. The right hander got to his hundred from an overthrow; it was also the first hundred for a Dutch player in a World Cup. Grooth was dismissed for 28 runs, and later captain Peter Borren came in and smashed some quick runs.
Doeschate was finally dismissed for 119 from 110 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes. Netherlands ended the innings at 292 for the loss of 6 wickets. England would have to play well to get to their target and any complacency may end up costing them dear.
