Cricket LIVE update: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292 and Waqar Younis honoured by Lasith Malinga’s praise
The legendary pacemen from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis said that they were honoured to hear the praise from the Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga, who claimed that he grew up watching the two “Ws” and learned the art of bowling Yorkers, watching
them on his television screen.
Malinga became the only bowler in the history of cricket to take two hat-tricks in World Cups. The 27-year-old was in devastating form against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kenya-c752 in yesterday’s match, and ended up with figures of 6 for 38. These were his best bowling figures in One Day
Internationals (ODIs).
The Sri Lankan pacer took a famous hat-trick against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760. He took four wickets in four balls back then.
Following the comments from Malinga, Wasim stated, “I take this as a compliment from the most destructive bowler in the world today. Malinga is intelligent, awkward and that’s what makes him one of the most difficult bowlers to face.”
The former Pakistan captain further added that the round arm action of Malinga helps him swing the ball into the right-handers, and his age and enthusiasm will definitely help him to make many other records in the future.
Waqar, who is also head coach of his national team, was pleased with the remarks of Malinga. The toe-crusher stated, “It reminds you of your own good days. As long as he doesn’t do it against us I am happy.”
The Pakistani coach also stated that everyone was familiar with the art of reverse swing these days, but still not many bowlers have the ability to do it. However, Malinga is one of the most lethal exponents of reverse swing due to his ‘slingy’ action.
The two “Ws” were the best exponents of reverse swing in the nineties. They had the pace and accuracy, which allowed them to dominate their opponents. Many cricket experts and former players rate Wasim and Waqar to be the best bowling partners in the history
of cricket.
The legends have inspired millions of youngsters in Pakistan and across the globe, and they will remain an inspiration for the generations to come.
