Cricket: Miche Broad passes away, Stuart Broad might still play

Miche Broad, wife of Chris Broad and stepmother of Stuart Broad died yesterday. Chris Broad is an ex-English cricketer and current test official for ICC.  She died after suffering from motor neurone disease. Miche was first diagnosed with motor neurone disease early this year. ICC has granted Chris indefinite leave, while Stuart is likely to be named for today’s match against Bangladesh. Chris Broad in a statement said "It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my wife, Miche. She has been battling bravely with motor neurone disease for some time now and she unfortunately passed away this morning”.

Chris Broad who had a short career with English cricket is now serving as match referee in test and one day cricket. Chris Broad was a left-handed opener for his national side. In his short ODI career of 34 matches, he managed to score 1361 runs with an average of 40.02.

Stuart Broad along with his sister Gemma will continue to perform their duties with the national cricket team. Gemma is an analyst with English cricket team. Currently there was no official statement from England and Wales Cricket board but unofficially there is news that Stuart Broad will be available for today’s match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747. Stuart Broad in recent times has become a dependent bowler for his national side. His recent performances speak volumes of his commitment and calibre. Today, England will play the first of its three ODI series match. First match is planned to take place in Trent Bridge.

A statement from Chris Broad also stated that, family members will honour their work commitments as wished by Miche. The statement read "It was Miche's wish that, on her passing, Gemma, Stuart and I should continue to fulfil our commitments and, in her honour, we will endeavour to do so".

Ajmal Shehzad will be back-up option for England in case Stuart Broad is not named in the playing eleven. England will like to have the services of their prime bowler Stuart Broad, since England is already missing out on their star batsman Pietersen. Ian Bell is likely to replace Pieterson. Bell will be making a comeback to international cricket after two years. His new found form and high scores in domestic matches have earned him another chance to perform at the international level. Strauss was confident and believed that Bell will capitalize on this opportunity, "His form this year has been excellent”, said Strauss.

"He's been playing really well for England in the longer forms of the game too and he's really maturing as a cricketer”.

Strauss further added that Bell has made a few adjustments in his techniques which have paid off well, he is just trying to play good cricket. Strauss believed that Bell is not trying to convince people that he can play well; his new self belief will help him cement his position in One Day Internationals.

Strauss also explained that he will miss Kevin for his quality of cricket. "Kevin is a loss because he's a world-class player but he's being replaced by people with proven track records in international cricket”.
