as the new chairman of the board after former chairman Ijaz Butt’s tenure ended after three years.
A formal announcement of Zaka’s appointment was made on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 after Pakistan president held a detailed meeting with the new chairman.
While talking to Geo Super, a local Pakistani sports channel, Zaka said, “I will work day and night to live up to President Zardari's confidence. My top priority will be to improve Pakistan's cricket image and stop bookies and match-fixers."
Butt’s term ended on October 8, 2011 and there were rumours that he would get an extension from the patron-in-chief, however, his tenure as the chairman of the PCB had drew criticism due to which a new man was named for the job.

This was revealed on the fifth day of the ongoing spot-fixing hearing in a London court against three Pakistan players Salman Butt, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mazhar-c75448 Majeed.
According to a recorded conversation with an undercover journalist from now a defunct tabloid “News of the World”, Majeed revealed that the players were willing to lose matches to see an end to Afridi’s reign as the captain of Pakistan
"There's a thing going on with the players. A lot of the boys want to f*** up Afridi because he is trying to f*** up things for them and he's the captain of the Twenty20 and one-day (side). They all want Butt to be captain,” said Majeed.
International Cricket Council (ICC) has reverted its stance on making Decision Review System mandatory, as now it would be up to the two teams playing a bilateral series to choose the use of the technology.
