Cricket: Pakistani Coach Waqar Younis lauds Umar’s 64

Umar Akmal with his brilliant performances with the bat has become an integral part of the middle order of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s cricket team. The youngest of the Akmal brothers has impressed the cricket fans with his “bring it on” approach against every bowling line up in the world– from the Bengali tigers to the threatening pace attack of the Kangaroos. Once again the 20-year old impressed the Edgbaston audience as he struck a whirlwind 64 off just 31 balls in the first T20 against World Champions, Australia.

The brilliant performance of young Akmal rescued the Green Shirts from a precarious 47 for 4 wickets. It was an outstanding show of belligerence from Umar Akmal in a potentially panicky situation but his fearless and “bring it on” attitude made him play another match winning innings of 64 runs. As Clarke’s men failed to chase 167 losing their 12-game hold over their Asian rivals. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 in 12 games in a row, across all the three formats – Test, ODI and T20. The most recent defeat being the World T20 semi final in May and the most devastating was their winless tour of Australia earlier this year.

Akmal was praised by the National Coach Waqar Younis as one of the most brilliant cricketers of his age bracket."He is probably the most talented cricketer I have seen in the past 15-20 years", said Waqar, while speaking to media reporters. Waqar acknowledged that the 20-year old is an integral part of Pakistan Cricket. He further added that he is kind of talent that can take Pakistani cricket out of trouble and he has proven his capabilities in the last few matches.

The National Coach lauded his brilliant match winning performance as he said that at one stage it seemed to be quite difficult to win the game. But the way Umar played an astounding innings of 64 runs was outstanding. The former fast bowler said that the young guy is just 20 but he plays an astoundingly mature innings. Waqar anticipated that undoubtedly the emerging talent of youngest Akmal would reach the top.

"He's just amazing. He's only young, he's only 20. He's got heaps of time and he's a good learner, a good listener which is good. I have no doubt that he is going to go right to the top. He's very talented. Time will teach him more and he'll be right up there at the top. He's fabulous to have in the side".

http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 also lauded the performance of Umar saying: "He played well, didn't he? He's a very clean striker of the ball. He's played really well the last couple of times against us so hopefully we can get a few more wickets earlier and get him in when the ball is newer".

Umar with the help of seven boundaries and three sixes smacked his highest T20 international score, 64 runs from just 31 deliveries. His half century, he chalked off just 21 balls, is the fastest T20 international fifty recorded by any Pakistani player till date. What made Umar’s 64 runs even better was that his innings came out when the Pakistani side was in a precarious condition after losing its early four wickets at the score of just 47. 20-year old Akmal’s bold and fearless hitting helped his side set an imposing target of 168. His brilliant performance earned him the man of the match title in the end. Akmal in St Lucia as well played a remarkable innings of an unbeaten 56 runs.
