Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 (CSA) still silent on team’s new coach
Cricket South Africa (CSA) have not yet finalised the head coach for the national side, but former Proteas opener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Kirsten-c58527, is tipped to be the likely candidate for the job.
However, the cricket authorities in the country have maintained their silence over the appointment of the former Indian coach.
Earlier, star South African batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JP-Duminy-c1742, stated, “I guess it's up to him. The rumours are the job would be his if he wants it. But what I have heard is he wants to spend some time with his family. I'm not sure what will happen in the next two months.
But if he gets the job, I'm pretty excited to work with him; I have worked with him in the past.”
On the other hand, South Africa’s Twenty20 skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Johan-Botha-c67173, was also in favour of Kirsten to coach the national side. He stated, “I think honestly Gary has had a good time with the Indian team. If he takes over everyone will be happy.”
Kirsten had a very good time with the Indian team, guiding them to a very strong position in all three formats of the game. The team played consistently under the South African coach and reached the number one spot in the ICC Test match rankings.
The Men in Blue also performed well on foreign tours and their biggest achievement was the triumph in the ICC World Cup 2011. They had the advantage of playing at home, but lacked the strength in bowling. However, the team management formed a perfect combination,
which proved to be successful throughout the Mega Event.
The Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 (BCCI) wanted Kirsten to continue the role of coaching with the World Champions, but the South African had resigned from the job before the start of the tournament.
Since the cricket authorities in Indian failed to convince Kirsten, it was believed that he would join his national side in order to guide them out of trouble. However, there are some other strong candidates, who have applied for the job.
Former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 coach, Richard Pybus, is also being considered by the CSA and the choice has not yet been finalised.
