Cricket South Africa snubs PCB’s request for schedule change – Cricket News Update
Cricket South Africa (CSA), on Tuesday turned down the Pakistan Cricket Board’s request to change the dates of its national team’s tour to South Africa early next year, to play three Tests and a limited-overs affair.
"They (PCB) asked us to move the tour earlier but it was just not possible because of our schedule," Jacques Faul, the acting CSA chief executive, told ESPNcricinfo. "We always try to accommodate other countries but we can't always
manage. The program is very busy these days. We also play our domestic competitions while tours are ongoing."
Pakistan cricket team is scheduled to tour the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ian-Harold-King-c63858 nation early next year to play three Tests, five One Day Internationals and two T20 Internationals between February 1 and March 24. The Men in Green are also scheduled to play practice
match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 Invitation XI prior to the Test series (January 25 to 28).
The Pakistan Cricket Board is set to launch its domestic Twenty20 premier league - The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Premier League – in March next year, and had earlier this month requested their South African counterparts to alter the dates of the itinerary
in a bid to expand the 12-day window for the proposed domestic Twenty20 tournament, which follows the South Africa tour in March.
But Cricket South Africa snubbed the proposal citing busy international schedule as the reason behind their decision. This was revealed by the Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 on Tuesday.
"We wanted to expand our window (for the T20 league), but they (CSA) didn't agree so we decided to continue as per the Future Tours Programme," Zaka Ashraf, the PCB chairman, told ESPNcricinfo yesterday. "CSA told the PCB that they
had already announced and sold http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cameron-James-Borgas-c49157 and it was not possible to make any change," the PCB chief went on to add.
One major reason behind PCB’s move to alter the dates of the inaugural edition of its premier league is to avoid a clash with the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL), which gets underway in Kolkata on April 3. But Cricket South Africa’s
decision is also understandable as the country will be hosting http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 from December 21 until January 25, and with the Pakistan Test series commencing only six days after, it is impossible for the CSA to advance the dates.
