Cricket Special Edition: Indian cricket overpowers Pakistan through CLT20 and IPL
Indian cricket is dominating the current international cricket arena, with the advent of Indian Premier League (IPL) and Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20). On the contrary, Pakistani cricket is under immense pressure due to allegations of match-fixing and poor internal board management, which is ruining the core of Pakistan’s cricketing set-up. Indian cricket is making more money than ever with the inclusion of IPL and CLT20 under its umbrella, while Pakistani cricket is spending and wasting more resources on lawyers and legal lawsuits for their players.
India and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and Pakistan for they have fought three wars. There has been no war since 1971. So there is so much more excitement in this match.”
The people of these two nations have a sense of competition when it comes to anything whether it is economics, politics, sports or media. The two third-world countries just have to compete. But one might find this sense of competition a bit ironic, keeping in mind that India is almost thrice the size of Pakistan, and there is no doubt that India is way ahead of its neighbour in every field of life. And this can be justified if one compares economics, politics, sports and media between the two.
The recent allegations of match-fixing on the Pakistani cricket trio of test skipper Salman Butt, and fast bowlers Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir have brewed a number of questions, as to why things have changed between the so-called competing nations. Well, some experts argue that Pakistani players are caught in alleged match-fixing activities due to poverty prevailing within their country. Some also relate it to non-inclusion of Pakistani players in IPL and CLT20, depriving them from huge sums of money that other international players make in a single year. The advent of IPL and CLT20 has surely brought a lot of money into cricket.
The IPL has an estimated value of US$ 3.91 billion dollar for this year alone. The estimated salary of an IPL player is 2.5 million pounds over a period of one year, while the total spending cap for a franchisee in the first player auction is US$ 5 million. Under-22 players are to be remunerated with a minimum annual salary of US$ 20,000 while for other international players, it is US$ 50,000. The most expensive players in the IPL to date are Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen who went for US $ 1.55 million each.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals led by veteran Aussie spinner Shane Warne is worth US$ 67 million owned by Emerging Media (Lachlan Murdoch, A.R Jha and Co.) Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra, Suresh and Kavita Chellaram, and is the cheapest IPL team.
The amount of money Indian Cricket has produced is phenomenal and commendable. And they should be appreciated for their effects of making cricket bigger than ever. While, the inclusion of Pakistani players is not the responsibility of the Indian cricket board, there is only one governing body to be blamed for exclusion of Pakistani players i.e. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its officials. While India can dominate the cricket arena, Pakistani cricket should just try to keep up with the Indians.
