Cricket Special Edition: Indian’s don’t need http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and its cricket
The current world leaders of the sport of cricket are the Indian’s. With the advent of Indian Premier League (IPL), the Indians dominate the cricketing arena in terms of both the game itself and the finances in it. On the contrary, neighbours and arch rivals,
Pakistan has suffered big losses in cricket due to involvement in uncalled-for inner politics, match-fixing scandals, and the recent natural disasters which have literally destroyed half of the rural population of the country, Pakistan and its cricket is
under immense pressure as they are losing their cricketing glory.
Over the years, even though, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and Pakistan have found a civilised way of living next to each other, they still have a lot of unresolved issues, from the undisputed Kashmir issue to the non-inclusion of Pakistani players in the IPL. These two nations
have been through it all. Having fought three wars since the partition of India 1947, these two countries still hold grudges against each other.
However, the two share the same heritage and history; these nations are yet to find any mutual agreement or consensus regarding their issues. Due to IPL, the cricketing arena has taken a shift from English or other international leagues to Indian cricket.
Previously international players opted to play for the English county but due to the money offered by the IPL, players opt to play for this league instead. On the contrary, previously an Indo-Pak match would bring millions of dollar to both Pakistan and India.
But now with IPL, Indian cricket doesn’t really require to hold matches against Pakistani national cricket team because of the money pouring in from the IPL.
Plus, the recent series of events have brought Pakistan and its cricket down big time. As it starts from the political situation of Pakistan to the 2009 attacks on the Sri Lankan team, which led to the International Cricket Council (ICC) taking away World
Cup 2011’s venues from Pakistan and shifting them to other Asian countries, mainly India. Above all, the ongoing match-fixing fiasco taking place in England has brought Pakistani cricket team’s morale and finances down to the dogs.
Pakistani cricket has suffered drastically in terms of finances, as ICC and other international players have rising security concerns. To the extent that none of the cricketing boards and players are willing to play matches for the relief work in Pakistan.
A fund-raising match was supposed to be played between ICC eleven and Pakistani national team in England, but after the allegations of conspiracy on the English team by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairperson http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, it seems very unlikely that the
England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) would help Pakistan at this time of need. Not to forget that the English playing eleven, from recent test series against Pakistan, donated part of their match-fee for the Pakistani flood victims.
The net value of the IPL is estimated to be around US$ 4.13 billion. On the basis of pro rata salaries of the IPL players, the IPL is the second-highest paid league, next to the National Basketball Association (NBA). On average, the estimated salary of
a player in one year in the IPL is around 2.5 million pounds. Meanwhile, the PCB chairperson’s recent statements regarding the ECB is stated to be as if “Butt has shot himself in both feet,” say’s Osman Samiuddin, as the ECB has worked very hard to restore
international cricket in Pakistan. But one might argue that Butt and PCB’s reaction can also be blamed on the ICC as well.
All said and done, the truth remains pretty close to reality, which is that the Indian’s have dominated the world of cricket, and this arena also includes Pakistan. Just like other international cricketing nations, Pakistan has to follow the new Indian way
of cricket to safeguard its international cricket future and glory. In simple words, the other international boards have not tried to compete with the IPL but have become a part of it. Likewise, the Pakistani cricket should follow the same footsteps and accept
the truth.
