Cricket Special Report: Former Captain Rameez Raja has faith in the talent of the Pakistani team
Former captain and member of International Cricket Council’s Pakistan task team, Ramiz Raja said on Sunday that Pakistan has enough talent to come out of spot-fixing scandals which are defaming the sport in the country.
“For me credibility and integrity are the main issues and there is a need to draw a line between whether we want suspicious players or we just want talented players,”
Raja told.
The main thing required in our cricket is fair work. Although the players who have been scandalized so far, are the key part of our team, but their talent can only work if they use it for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 only.
Ramiz gave a hope to Pakistani team and its fans that despite loosing some senior talented players, Pakistan still have many other players who can reach the target if they work hard.
The great downfall of the image of Pakistani team started when Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamer were first suspended by  ICC on the charges of spot-fixing and match fixing during team’s Lord’s test against England in August.
Three of the players were alleged for making deliberate no-balls for money fixed with an alleged bookie, after which they were called by ICC anti-corruption tribunal in Doha, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Qatar-c2986, from January 6-11 and face sever punishment and lengthy bans.
In addition, recently three of senior players, s****.Malik, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 tour, and World Cup squad.
PCB has not issued NOC to these players for taking part in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 League despite their brilliant performance in domestic cricket. Considering the series of spot-fixing and match fixing allegations of Pakistani players ICC has directed PCB to take serious
notice and implement the anti-corruption code of conduct.
In response to ICC’s notice, PCB is now playing an active role in curbing the corruption related issues. It has applied more strictness and introduced a revised code of conduct which has more rules and punishments for all types of corruptions in cricket.
Besides, it has also introduced new educational and training courses for the players.
Raja further talking about the present scenario of Pakistani team said that, Pakistan has many other talented players who can revive the lost glory of the spot. He said that the captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-c89347 Afirdi is just needed to avail the available talent for the World
Cup 2011.Raja further said that the foreign teams will not play Pakistan if the credibility is restored.
“Pakistan is now seen as a controversial team and unless the credibility is restored, a task which the PCB is addressing, this will remain a big problem for Pakistan,” said Raja.
Although Pakistani cricket is going through tough time and World Cup 2011 will now be more challenging in the absence of many senior players but perhaps comparatively this would be not be as hard-hitting situation as Pakistan faces by including the players
who play for money rather than Pakistan.
It is hoped that Pakistani cricket will get out of the clouds of spot-fixing, match fixing stigmas, and regain its glorious name in the world of cricket.
