Cricket Special Report: Wasim Akram and Rameez Raja praised Mohammad Aamer’s performance at Lord’s
The teenage pace sensation of Pakistani, Mohammad Aamer has been praised by various former cricketers for his remarkable bowling against Australia at Lord’s. Pakistan’s fast bowler Wasim Akram, whom the teenager calls his mentor, said that the young pacer is much cleverer than he was at the age of 18.
The teenager in his latest impressive Test display at Lord’s took four Australian wickets conceding just 72 runs. The teenage quick was leading the pace attack of Pakistan in the first test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at the “home of cricket”, the Lord’s cricket ground. The sensational teenager wrapped up the first innings of Australia by sacking tail-ender Doug Bollinger, with an impressive Yorker. Aamer’s efforts well supported by Mohammad Asif’s 3-63, helped Pakistan dismiss the Ashes favourites for just 253 on the second day of Lord’s test.
Wasim Akram admired his performance at Lord’s saying that the teenager is an exceptional talent with pace and nip. He said that Aamer has a unique capability of swinging the ball both ways and this quality of the 18-years old boy makes him an ideal pace man, predicting a successful future as a pacer.
The experts have already compared the pace, the swing and the exuberance of the teenager with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292, the best left-arm pacer international cricket has ever seen. However, Akram said that the young talent is already a step ahead. Akram said that when he was 18, he (Wasim Akram) was not as cleverer as Aamer is. Akram admired the young talent saying that the teenage sensation is a quick learner and would be a leading pace attacker in the future.
"Aamer has got a head start and is a quick learner, so I see no reason why he can't go on to become a leading fast bowler. He is already spearheading the Pakistan pace attack and watching him bowl (on Tuesday), everything pitched up, banging in every delivery and testing the best batsmen in the world excited me no end,” said the legendary fast bowler who had hauled ten wickets in the second test of his career, that he played against the blackcaps in 1984.
Though Akram appreciated Aamer for his marvellous bowling since his debut but at the same time, he gave the teenager a tip to bowl closer to the crease. He said that bowling closer the stumps would further help him.
"What I noticed at Lord's and in the series in Australia is that he bowls wide of the crease. That may help the ball to come in (to right handers), but on slower tracks it won't work, so he needs to bowl closer to the stumps," Akram clarified.
There have been talks about the build of the teenager, that it does not resemble a fast bowler’s physique. However, Wasim turned out those talks saying that the sensational pacer is young enough, just 18. He advised the young pacer to spend more time in gym and said that with time he (Aamer) would get his muscles strengthened
Wasim Akram said that he has not met the emerging pacer in the near past but it has always been nice seeing him. Akram said that he is always ready to meet and share his experience with the young talented Aamer.
Wasim Akram expects that Mohammad Aamer best utilize his experience of English pitches that he gained during 2007 tour of England that he had with the Under-19 team of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
Former skipper of Pakistan Rameez Raja also hauled the performance of Mohammad Aamer. Rameez said that the young pacer, at the age of 18, is more mature than the former left-arm pacer of Pakistan, Wasim Akram. During the match, commentary at England, Rameez said that the efforts of the teenage left-arm fast bowler work well for Pakistan and expected that the young talent of Pakistan would remain consistent with the match winning performances in the future, as well as take Pakistan cricket out of the plunging condition.
