Cricket Update: Ashes 2010- England close to Victory, Australia 169 for 6 at the close of 3rd day.
Who would have thought that Ashes will get its result before the final game? The 4th Ashes test this year was certainly announced the most important from the aspect of Ashes title decider but like always it was expected from Australia to keep
the series alive till the final game after a herculean fight back from them in the previous test.
All the expectations have been put to trash by some dominant all-round performance from England making it look like a pretty one sided affair as they are inches away from victory at the end of the third days play where http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 are still 246 runs behind
with only 4 wickets remaining.
After being bowled out for a low total of 98 runs, Australia had no luck with bowling and where given a strong lead of 415 runs by England courtesy an unbeaten 168 runs knock by Jonathan Trott and some blistering half centuries by Alastair Cook, Andrew Strauss,
Kevin Pietersen and Matt Prior. Peter Siddle to be the pick of the bowlers for Australia who took 6 wickets but just a little too late.
With no weather forecasts as such of endangering the result of the match in any way, it needed a herculean effort by Australia to at least draw the match even. All their fight back capabilities have been put to questions after a stunning bowling performance
from England on the 3rd day of fourth test being played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Tim Bresnan has been immaculately impressive for his 3 for 26 leaving the Australian batting line up in shambles. He took the three wickets of Australia’s best batting performers over the years, while Graeme Swann and James Anderson took one each to leave
Australia 169 for 6 at stumps day 3.
Australia needed to bat throughout the two sessions on the third day and complete of the remaining two days of the game in order save the test but this situation certainly demanded something miraculous as they seemed to have been struggling even to survive
the two sessions let alone the two remaining days.
Bresnan bowled a beautiful line with some good swing to trouble the Australian batting and was successful in slicing through it. Swann perfectly complemented Bresnan as he gave no opportunity to the Australian batsman to score freely at all.
It all started from a bad call by Shane Watson which led to the run out of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Phillip-Hughes-c2185. That was it for the Australians as their wickets started to tremble one after the other. Ricky Ponting gave his team some hope as he got the start of 20 runs but could
not stay for long as he was bowled by a beauty from Bresnan.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 was the only impressive batsman for Australia by scoring a half century until given out LBW courtesy an exuberant delivery from Bresnan. Steven Smith seemed to have just been settled for his 38 before he was unsettled and sent home by a dazzling delivery
from Anderson which went through his defences and onto the stumps.
At the end of the day Australia are 169 for 6 with two whole days remaining. Will Australia somehow pull a miracle to get out of this one or is it then end to the Ashes title race this series for Australia as England sensing a great victory here at the MCG?
Situation immensely favours England but who knows what can happen in cricket.
