Cricket Update: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 Dominant Courtesy a Hat-Trick from Peter Siddle
Has anyone seen Australia and England fight a war against one another? Has anyone seen them battle it out to avenge their victory against one another? Ashes Test series is one place where you can witness history being made.
The first day of the opening Ashes test, we saw what must be considered a dream performance by a player in an all important cricketing event for both the nations. Ashes history is overflowing with tremendous performances and yet we experience one more to
be written with glamorous words. Peter Siddle , a player whose selection for the match was indigestive for his critics proved everyone otherwise after an exuberant Hat-trick on his own birthday that has put Australia in a commanding position at the end of
the first day. Siddle occupied his career best 6 for 54 which was the main contributing factor that lead to the dismissal of the English side for a total of 260 runs.
England produced some performances worth praising but still could not manage to dominate Australia after submitting them for a total of 260. Cook played a professional and a stable innings of 67 whereas Bell scored 76 which might be considered one of his
best performances under immense pressure that he was. In reply, Australia were 25 without any loss of a wicket at the end of first days play at Brisbane Cricket Stadium.
Crowd attended the first day in huge numbers as it reached 35,389 to witness one of the most remarkable performances in the history of cricket. England were 197 for 4 until Siddle was given the ball and was asked to attack . He produced a beauty that forced
Cook to edge it to the first slip after facing 168 balls with full concentration. This was followed by a lightening delivery that did not even give slightest of time to Matt Prior who completely missed it and broke his stumps. The third victim for the Hat-trick
was Stuart Broad who was given LBW after the ball hit him on his boot rite in front of the stumps.
Siddle was out of the Australia Test team since January after fracturing his back. It was one remarkable way to make his comeback like this after once he was given least priority over Bollinger. He demonstrated to the other bowlers how to bowl on a slow
wicket like the current one. He already had two wickets under his belt which were of Pietersen and Collingwood which had already put England under a good deal of pressure. His final pick was Graeme Swann which lead to Siddle’s career best in Test arena.
Final session was filled with a lot of electrifying instances to be covered in headlines. The series is given an ecstatic start which makes it a treat to watch from the perspective of the viewers. England will once again have a bad memory to the start of
yet another Ashes tournament. This however will make the future competition much more interesting. Will England fight back to pull a revenge on the Australian side or will it go back into its nutshell after the dictation of terms by Australia. There is a lot
more to be seen and a lot more to be covered so let’s keep our fingers crossed.
