Cricket Update: Australian Batsman, Simon Katich optimistic about his return
The media is reporting the news that Simon Katich might well be back in the Australian batting line up for the Sydney Test. The news came in at a time when Phillip Hughes has replaced the crucial opening batsman in the playing XI. The media reports quoted
Katich as expecting to make a return in the last encounter of the Ashes series.
Simon Katich had to leave the Australian squad and the Ashes series after the second test at Adelaide, due to an Achilles tendon injury. But he has disclosed the fact that his return could be possible in the last game against visitors, due to take place
in Sydney. The reports on his recovery are coming out to be impressive. This has allowed the out of the team batsman to give a statement as mentioned above.
“I am doing all the rehab and pulling up well” explained Simon Katich to the media.  He also emphasized that the physio assigned to him has been impressed by the way the recovery is underway. Simon Katich struggled early during the second test match,
aggravating his injury while not resting at all. This became a problem for his inclusion in the third game. Hence was given time to recover, replacing him with Hughes.
Simon Katich also mentioned regarding the nature of the injury and the complexities. He explained how this sort of a problem takes some time to settle, but in his case, the results have been far better than expected. This does not imply that the batsman
will be fully fit before January 3; still the hopes for the best are tied to the recovery phase.
Katich looks extremely confident that the recovery will allow him his place in the team, yet the selectors are not contacted for the very task. This means that he will have to prove his fitness first and then the chance will be there to avail. However, some
in the media are saying that Katich will not return to the test squad for the last game as the process is not that simple.
The news of Simon coming back in the team has not come down smooth on the current opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Phillip-Hughes-c2185. This would imply that he has only one chance, and that is at MCG to perform well and impress the selectors so that he is retained. The latest batting
display in the Perth test was absolutely unimpressive and hence the cries for Katich to return are picking up. If he has to stay, then he will have to perform.
