Cricket Update: Australian left hander http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usman-Khawaja-c2729 has signed a county deal.
Usman will play for Derbyshire for the upcoming English County season as their overseas player. The 24 years old Australian left hander has not yet got the clearance from Australian Cricket Board. He will probably play eight county matches, six 40-over matches
and the entire T20 tournament until the conclusion of domestic Twenty20 tournament as he has to play a first half of county season.
Earlier, Derbyshire Cricket club had a contract with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Middlesex-c817. Now Derbyshire looks happy with the change.
Usman has become the first Muslim cricketer played in the national side of Australia. He made his début against the England in the last Ashes Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground January 2011. He replaced injured Ricky Ponting for the match. Earlier, he had
given tremendous performance in Sheffield Shield cricket (Australian Domestic Cricket). He has played for Australia, Australia A, Australian Institute of Sports and New South Wales.
Top order batsman has scored 2126 runs with the average of 50.61 in 28 first class matches. He also hit six centuries and 10 half centuries including a double century. He plays for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 (Australian domestic team). He is one of the highly rated
players of Sheffield Shield.
Derbyshire's head of cricket, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Morris-c68398, has said that Usman will be an effective count in the County cricket. He is an awesome talent and his exceptional record in the Sheffield Shield cricket proves it too.
He further added that despite of the fact he made his début in the final Test of Ashes series. Usman has been with Australian system for a long time and was also with the squad that stopped over the County Ground last season. County Cricket has played an
important role in the development of Australian cricketers and Morris added that he is quite sure Usman will learn a lot from county cricket that will help him to improve his abilities. Now he just needs a no objection certificate from Australian Cricket Board
(ACB).
