Cricket Update: Bangladesh completes comprehensive win over Zimbabwe
Bangladesh levels the series with Zimbabwe 1-1 after defeating the visitors in the second of the five match series. After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, the Bangladesh bowlers did exactly what their captain expected them to do. The Zimbabwe
team was bundled up for 191 in the 47th over with 22 balls to spare. In reply, Bangladesh chased down the total easily in the 40th over with six wickets in hand. Zimbabwe would have had hopes of putting pressure on the Bangladesh batsmen
and possibly win the match to take a 2-0 lead but the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 batsmen didn’t repeat the mistakes they committed earlier in the first match which they lost by nine runs.
After being put into bat, Zimbabwe lost their first wicket in the second over of the match. After that, it was Regis Chakabva and Brendan http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 who steadied the ship by scoring some runs off the fast bowlers. The fast bowlers were unimpressive just as in
the first match. Things changed though after the spinners came on to bowl. Zimbabwe lost both their set batsmen Regis Chakabva and Brendan Taylor in a span of just six runs. Keith Dabengwa and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tatenda-Taibu-c92882 then offered some resistance by scoring a 48 run
partnership and taking the score over the 100 mark.
Just as they were looking a bit comfortable, both the set batsmen got out to some quality spin bowling from Bangladesh. Zimbabwe had lost six of their top order batsmen for 132 runs in the 37th over. Craid Ervine and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Prosper-Utseya-c82728 got their team
out of trouble by scoring a 50 run partnership off just 44 balls. Bangladesh again bounced back by grabbing four wickets for just two runs and wrapping the innings up on 191 with 22 balls to spare.
The spinners for Bangladesh were again outstanding and they took nine of the ten wickets to fall. The left arm spinner Abdur Razzak was the pick of the bowlers by taking five wickets in the match. Captain Shakib-Al-Hasan also claimed four wickets to support
Razzak. Bangladesh had to bat for a few overs before the lunch break in which they lost their opener Imrul Keyes.
After the resume of the play, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Junaid-Siddique-c1749 played with confidence. Tamim Iqbal fell for 44 in the 14th over after making a 49 run partnership with Junaid Siddique. Raqibul Hasan and Siddique carried the innings to 147 before
Siddique got out after completing his well made fifty. Raqibul Hasan also played brilliantly for his 65 runs and just lost his wicket five runs short of victory. Captain Shakib and the wicketkeeper Rahim made sure that Bangladesh don’t loose any more wickets
and guided their team to victory in the 40th over.
The Zimbabwe bowlers had no answer to some good batting performances from the Bangladesh batsmen. Ray http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 bowlers by claiming a couple of wickets for 41 runs. This was however not enough for Zimbabwe to halt Bangladesh from
a well deserved victory.
The series is now level with both teams winning one match each. Bangladesh didn’t repeat the errors which they did in the last match and lost to Zimbabwe. On the other hand, Zimbabwe would be worried about the spinners from Bangladesh who have performed
consistently in both the matches. The Zimbabwe batsmen would have to find an answer to the quality spin attack of Razzak and Shakib in order to get back in the series. The man of the match award went to the left arm spinner Razzak from Bangladesh who claimed
five wickets for just 30 runs. The Bangladesh team had some good performances with the bat and bowl in this match and they would enter into the third match with high confidence.
