Cricket Update: County Championship Division Two- Leicestershire Vs Derbyshire, Day 1 review
Seamers put Leicestershire in command in front of an adoring home crowd on the first day of their County Championship Division Two clash against Derbyshire at Grace Road, Leicestershire.

On the first ball of next over Chesney Hughes, struggling at the crease was trapped lbw by 36 years old pacer Hoggard. Hughes failed to open his account even after facing 19 balls.
Hughes’ dismissal brought Dan Redfern to the crease, whose single-handed efforts dragged the side towards a respectable score. Redfern blazed away with the bat to lift the visitors to 182 from 37 for 5. Derbyshire’s sixth wicket fell, when Robin Peterson mistimed Nadeem Malik to Greg Smith. Peterson’s 28 minutes stay at the crease earned his side only six runs. Malik - exploiting the helpful conditions superbly - sent http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steffan-Jones-c2570 and Redfern added 21 runs to the scorecard for the eighth wicket stand before Jones slashed Malik to du Toit. Jones, plundering three boundaries, scored 14 runs from 18 balls. Redfern played sensibly, as wickets clattered at the other end stealing 85 runs from 121 balls.

Redfern’s wicket was the end of Derbyshire’s innings setting a first innings target of 183 for the hosts.
