Cricket Update: Daryl Tuffey to return to New Zealand
Daryl Tuffey has been sent home to New Zealand because of a bicep strain, which he suffered in the first One day match against India. New Zealand is currently on the tour of India and they are currently playing a five match , One day series against India. Earlier they lost the test series 1-0 against them and have also lost the first One day match in Guwahati. Tuffey’s absence from the one day series would be a major blow for the New Zealand side, as he is one of their most experienced bowlers. Apart from experience, he also has the ability to take
important wickets at crucial times, for his side.
New Zealand would definitely be missing him for the rest of the series. However, if their other bowlers can do the job for them ,than they would definitely consider it as a bonus. Mark Greatbatch, who is New Zealand’s coach, stressed that Daryl Tuffey developed some discomfort in his right bicep during the first match but he was able to sustain it while playing. For a professional player, such injuries cannot be taken lightly. If they are not taken care of at the right time, they can get worse. Adding more to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754’s misery, Shane Bond was also one of their players who suffered a lot of because of injuries, and his career came to an end. Mark Greatbatch said,
“Apparently when Tuffey bowled, his injury seemed to be fine but he does feel pain when he throws a ball. He will return to New Zealand for further treatment and assessment."
Without Tuffey, the New Zealand side would be feeling the absence of a genuine bowler in the team and they would have to cope up with some part-time or a new bowler. It was noticed during the Test series that New Zealand side lacks the penetration in their bowling department, especially in sub-continental conditions. In the absence of Daryl Tuffey, the other bowlers would have to be much more disciplined. In the recent Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, the Kiwi bowlers did not bowl impressively. Apart from the second innings of the first Test match, none of their bowlers were able to pressurize the Indian batsmen. Daryl Tuffey, took two wickets in the first One day match, against India and gave 56 runs from his eight overs.
