Cricket Update: England vs. Pakistan, 4th npower Test, Lord's, 2nd day- Aamer Wrecks English Top Order
Pakistan is right on top on day two of the fourth and final test against England being played at the Lords in London. As left-arm pace sensation Mohammad Aamer wrecked the top order in a sensational spell of pace and swing bowling taking four wickets without conceding a run in a matter of 9 balls to reduce the hosts to 47/5.
The hosts had resumed their first innings at the overnight score of 39/1 and within minutes there top and middle-order had been wimped out by the 18 year old pace sensation, who bowled some absolutely unplayable deliveries to both left-handed and right-handed batsmen.
The rot for the hosts started as early as the third ball of the day, when Alastair Cook failed to capitalize on the dropped chance by Umar Akmal on day one, edging a beautiful away swinger into the hands of wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal off Aamer.
He scored 13 runs only, the matters got worse for the hosts as on the same total Kevin Pietersen fell to the first ball he faced, the right hander went for an expansive drive outside the off-stump nicking the ball through to wicket-keeper to the joy of the Pakistanis.
The slide continued with the dismissal of Paul Collingwood also for a duck, the right hander fell lbw to a vicious in swinger from Aamer.
The decision was initially given not out by umpire Billy Bowden, yet the confident Pakistani team asked for a referral and the decision was eventually ruled in their favour.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 team was absolutely delirious when the fifth wicket fell, this time it was the turn of the left-handed Eoin Morgan to return to the pavilion without scoring.
Morgan edged another late swinging delivery from Mohammad Aamer, to the slip region and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yasir-Hameed-c2811 took a sharp catch in the second slip.
At this stage, the hosts recovered partially through a sixth wicket stand between Matt Prior and Jonathan Trott. The two right handers batted with great deal of confidence taking the attack to the opposition yet staying cautious at the same time.
There were constant plays and misses but the duo held firm, prolonging the agony for the visitors who were keen on running through the lower order.
The English team took lunch with the total on 97/5, despite the repair work by Trott and Prior the session belonged to Pakistan; the visitors would be hoping to wrap up the English innings soon after the interval.
