Cricket Update: England vs. Pakistan, 4th npower Test, Lord's, 3rd day- Trott and Broad set new world record (Lunch Report)
The fourth and final test between England and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 continues at Lords. On first session on day 3, England completely dominated the game. Scoring 99 runs and losing just a single wicket. Before going into the details of day 3, it is worth mentioning what happened on day 2. After day 1 of the test was all but washed away due to Rain, England resumed on day 2 at 39/1 and it quickly became 39/4. Muhammad Aamer produced his career best figures of 6 wickets, and England was at 102 for 7. It looked all set for Pakistan. Get England all out under 150; post a good first innings lead and level the series. However, sadly things are not as simple as it seemed.
Jonathan Broad and Stuart Broad defied the Pakistan Attack for almost 2 sessions. Especially in the 3rd session when sun came out, it was offense from both ends and England finished on 346 for 7. Trott and Broad both had completed their centuries.
Pakistan would have taken the end of 2nd day’s play as a welcome breather, after Broad and Trott had frustrated Pakistan bowling to the limit.
Saeed Ajmal started the proceeding on day 3; Stuart Broad was looking as solid as he did on day 2. The middle of the bat was evident, and ominous signs were there. Jonathan Trott on the other hand with his first scoring shot completed his 150 runs. After that, records and milestones followed one after another.
Both batsman in the middle got to the milestone of 50. Then came there were applause when score got to 400, and another big roar from fans came when the pair reached 300 run partnership.
Board and Trott then got their names in the record book, the pair completed the highest ever test partnership for the 8th wicket.

Cover drives were flowing from his bat and confidence flowing through his veins. Trott on the other hand continued his elegant stroke play, kept using the crease to his advantage, and played around with Pakistan attack.
Stuart Broad was staring at yet another milestone of highest score by number 9 batsmen. He was out 4 short of the record on 169. He was given LBW off the bowling of Saeed Ajmal after Salman Butt asked the 4th Umpire to review it.
