Cricket Update: Excluding Pakistan will earn bad reputation to IPL, says Wasim Akram
Former skipper of Pakistan cricket team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292, has expressed his disappointment over the fact that Pakistani players were not being allowed to take part into IPL season 4.
Dwelling upon the matter, and while talking to the reporters, Akram said,
“From what we are hearing Pakistani players will again not be in the IPL and this is so disappointing because frankly speaking I personally feel without our players the IPL loses much of its charm and competitive edge.”
He also went on pointing out the fact that if the competent and entertaining players like Abdul Razzaq and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 were also denied the chance to take part into the Indian Premier League, it would pose a serious question to the reputation of the event.
Besides regretting upon the way Indian franchises were putting all of their efforts to exclude the Pakistani players from the event, the former fast bowler also lamented upon the way http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board was taking the matter lightly.
Expressing his view point, he said, “Even if the Indian board had not shown keenness I think our board should have taken the initiative and shown interest in sending out players to the IPL and also sending their names to the Indians. An effort to remove
any misunderstandings should have taken by our board.”
Pakistani players had been eagerly sought for in the first session of the IPL, however, due to a number of factors which culminated in increasing the tension between both of the countries, they could not take part into the following two sessions. Now in
the fourth session too, they are least likely to be showing up at the event.
Wasim Akram was of the view that being a mega entertaining event, IPL should have ensured the participation of players from around the world, including Pakistan.
Taking the opportunity, the former captain of the team also urged Muhammad Yusuf to stop cribbing and to make efforts to prove his usefulness for the team. He was of the view that instead of merely saying that he was fit, the senior batsman should have proven
his fitness practically.
Concluding his remarks, Wasim also insisted upon bringing more clarity to Pakistan cricket. According to him, including players, no one was sure about which way things were being driven and taken care of. To him, it was important to draw a clear line of
demarcation between the black and the white, so that at least confusion among the players could be mitigated which was severely affecting their performances.
