Cricket Update: Exclusion from the World Cup Squad Might End Australian Brett Lee's Career
Brett Lee, who was once the spearhead of the Aussie bowling attack before injuries had the better of him, hinted that he might retire from all forms of the sport if the Australian selectors overlook him for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2011 in the Subcontinent.
Brett Lee has already retired from Test match cricket to prolong his limited overs career.
He expressed his intentions of making an impressive comeback in the Australian line-up and wants to lead the Aussie bowling-attack once again. He said,
"I hope that I am in it, and want to lead the attack for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746."
Lee, who turned 34 in 2010 made his Test debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in the Boxing Day Test in 1999 and immediately made a name for himself with some destructive performances in international cricket. He soon became a regular member of the Australian line-up in
all the formats of the game and was ranked as the second fastest bowler in the cricketing world after Pakistan’s Shoaib Akhtar. However, his progress in international cricket has been haunted by injuries throughout the career.
Brett Lee has taken 310 wickets in 76 Test matches for his country with an average of 30.81 runs per wicket which include 10 five-wicket hauls. He has also played 186 ODIs in which he took 324 wickets with a devastating average of 23.01 and grabbed 9 five-wicket
hauls. His 17 wickets in as many T20s and the ability to hit the ball hard are on top of that.
His target for the time being seems to be the world cup and looks quite excited and focused about the prospect. Lee stated that
"Hopefully I can bring some experience and different blood back in the team. I'm ready to play, and if I'm chosen, it will be great; if [not] I'll work out plan B."
Brett http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lee-c72382 has been a great ambassador of the game over the years and his experienced could prove to be handy in the Asian conditions. Australian team looks shattered after the Ashes defeat and bringing back someone who has seen it all in the last decade
might bring some change in the fortunes.
