Cricket Update: Former Pakistani captain Salman Butt calls Afridi as “directionless skipper”
Former Pakistani skipper Salman Butt, who was suspended due to spot-fixing allegations, criticising the captaincy of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 has called him as a “directionless skipper”.
“You don’t see any planning and innovation in Afridi’s captaincy. He is the captain who has no direction and no vision,” said Butt.
The issue of captaincy has been haunting our cricket for more than a month. Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the World Cup final squad but they still have not revealed the name of captain for the mega event coming next month. The decision to delay the

Butt, who has been playing under the captaincy of Afridi for almost six to eight months, has said that many of the players are not ready to play under the captaincy of Afridi.
In addition, according to sources there have been many complaints against the behaviour of skipper Afridi from his teammates and board officials, one of which was his friendly behaviour with the media.
Secondly, media has also revealed complaints that he was too overbearing and due to which many of the players were uncomfortable and unhappy with his attitude.
Butt who will get a final verdict from the ICC anti-corruption tribunal next month has suggested:
“Pakistan Cricket Board should appoint Misbah as skipper for the World Cup as he is a born leader and always lead from the front.”
Criticising the national team’s performance under the leadership of Afridi, Salman said that Pakistani team gave an exceptional performance during the Test series when they were led by Misbah but their performance in the first match of one-day internationals
against the same team under Afridi, was drawing a contrast.
“I think the present one-day team is stronger than the Test side as there are senior players who have been playing international cricket for last 15 years,” said Butt.
“But I think the ODI side is struggling because of poor planning and weak captaincy,” the former skipper added.
