Cricket Update: Ireland geared up for the 2011 Cricket World Cup, Richard Done
Ireland Cricket is all set to benefit from another successful World Cup next year said Richard Done, International Cricket Council’s high profile manager and the mentor of Irish Cricket team.
Done, was in Netherlands last week where Division One of the ICC World Cricket League was in progress. The Ireland side has once again proven that they are the emerging No. 1 by winning the Division One of the league. The Irish team played the league without its six county professionals and lifted the trophy remaining unbeaten throughout its six games.
The Irish cricket mentor is ready to fly to Belfast where Ireland would play a two-match one day series against the Bengali tigers. First ODI between the two teams will be played on 15th July and the second ODI on the next day. Done appreciating the performance of Irish team in the recently concluded Division One of the World Cricket League said that he cannot find a fault in his team’s performance in the League. He further added that the favourable home conditions make Ireland the favourites in this week’s ODI series.
“I still think we (the leading Associates) are a little behind Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, but we will find out this week. He said that the emerging team bowled well throughout the tournament and kept unswerving pressure on opponents. He also appreciated the performance of young players. Talking about the batting line-up of the WCL champions, Done said that the it was a stronger line but not a full capacity batting line as four county professionals were left behind.
“It’s a strong line-up but it wasn’t their full line-up and it’s particularly gratifying to see they can take a side with a few young guys who will learn some fantastic habits.”

He said that, with the World Cup just seven months away, the Ireland team is in pretty good form and the players would improve their form and fitness in the next seven months.
