Cricket Update: Ireland geared up for the 2011 Cricket World Cup, Richard Done

Ireland Cricket is all set to benefit from another successful World Cup next year said Richard Done, International Cricket Council’s high profile manager and the mentor of Irish Cricket team.

Done, was in Netherlands last week where Division One of the ICC World Cricket League was in progress. The Ireland side has once again proven that they are the emerging No. 1 by winning the Division One of the league. The Irish team played the league without its six county professionals and lifted the trophy remaining unbeaten throughout its six games.

The Irish cricket mentor is ready to fly to Belfast where Ireland would play a two-match one day series against the Bengali tigers. First ODI between the two teams will be played on 15th July and the second ODI on the next day. A victory on Tuesday against Bangladesh would raise Ireland’s cricket ranking levelling them with the tenth place http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 on the Reliance Mobile ICC one-day international championship table.

Done appreciating the performance of Irish team in the recently concluded Division One of the World Cricket League said that he cannot find a fault in his team’s performance in the League. He said his team is little behind Bangladesh and Zimbabwe and will find out in the coming two matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 this week. He further added that the favourable home conditions make Ireland the favourites in this week’s ODI series.

“I still think we (the leading Associates) are a little behind Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, but we will find out this week. With home conditions for Ireland you might install them as favourites particularly after what they did against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 couple of weeks ago,” said Done.

He said that the emerging team bowled well throughout the tournament and kept unswerving pressure on opponents. He also appreciated the performance of young players. Talking about the batting line-up of the WCL champions, Done said that the it was a stronger line but not a full capacity batting line as four county professionals were left behind.

“It’s a strong line-up but it wasn’t their full line-up and it’s particularly gratifying to see they can take a side with a few young guys who will learn some fantastic habits.”

The high performance manager of ICC said that the situation is pretty glowing, no team can relax on the success but the last week went very well for Ireland Cricket team.

Mentor of the team said that the 2011 World Cup tournament is no doubt a big stage that is not going to be trouble-free for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 but the side has planned properly for the prestigious event.

He said that, with the World Cup just seven months away, the Ireland team is in pretty good form and the players would improve their form and fitness in the next seven months.

Though next year’s world cup would be a different format tournament— Ireland will play six games with the top four from both the groups of seven each, making the Super Eights — Done deems Ireland would make it through this time as well.

“To get through this time you have to beat the other associate in your group and two full members, so it is a similar task.”

Done has been assigned the job to make sure that all four qualifiers — Ireland, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Canada-c748 — are geared up for the Asian conditions in next February. ICC has also plans to provide the qualifiers best possible training so that they can do justice with their qualifications.

Richard Done said that ICC is planning a series for the emerging qualifiers during September-October this year and will schedule a high powered two weeks camp as well ahead of the world Cup.
