Cricket Update: Middlesex beat surrey by 7 wickets in Friends Provident Pro T-20

Middlesex completed a comprehensive win over Surrey in the Friend Provident Pro T-20 at Oval in London.

Batting first Surrey could only manage 120 and Middlesex overhauled the score with just 3 wickets down and 2 over to spare.

http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851 won the toss and elected to bat first. Former England test batsman Mark Ramprakash did not last very long and after facing 7 balls, he was out for naught. Ramprakash was run out while trying to open his account, when Berg hit the stumps directly in the 2nd over.

One over late with the score still at 6, Roy was caught behind off the bowling of Murtagh also for zero, but for him it was a golden duck being out on his very first ball.

Finally, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brown-c48671 scored 20 runs from 18 balls with one four and a six.

The next man in Walters did not impress much as he was dismissed for 1 run from 3 balls, he walked back onto his stumps off the balling of Smith.

Surrey at that stage were 33 for the loss of 4 wickets and in some trouble, former Australian All rounder Andrew Symonds then joined Younis Khan in the middle, and both added 26 for the 5th wicket before Symonds was caught and bowled by Smith for his 2nd wicket. Symonds scored 19 runs from 13 balls with 2 fours and a six.

Younis Khan followed soon after scoring 21 runs from 29 balls, he was his also caught and bowled by Smith who got his 3rd wicket.

Spriegel and Wilson then came together, and put on 33 from 5 overs to take the score to 95 when Spriegel was caught by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Newman-c79297 on the bowling of Dexter, he scored 16 runs from 19 balls.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wilson-c98046 got away some boundaries in the final 2 overs and a big six down the ground to propel the score to 120 in the allotted 20 overs, it was not a big score by any means, but still gave something to bowl at for the Surrey attack.

http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Middlesex-c817 had the big hitting Australian opening the batting for them, but he was caught behind on his 3rd delivery after scoring just 1 run, he was dismissed by Nel.

However, Dexter and Owais Shah resurrected the innings and put on a brilliant 2nd wicket partnership. The 2 made good use of the fielding restrictions in the first 6 overs and chipped the ball over the top on every given opportunity.

Shah was looking at his best as he played couple of delightful square cuts, while Dexter was using his crease well to move forward and drive the over pitched balls, while he was also on guard on anything slightly pitched short.

The partnership was finally broken when Owais Shah was caught by Walters off the bowling of Spriegel after scoring 32 runs from 31 balls with 4 boundaries.

Next man in Malan could not carry the momentum forward and was dismissed for just 4 runs from 7 balls; he was caught by Schofield off the bowling off Spriegel.

It was then 82 for 3 and Middlesex were still in a comfortable position, Berg joined Dexter and with less than run a ball needed the pair easily guided the team home.

Dexter who came in as an opener was unbeaten in the end at 62 from 57 balls with 8 fours, while Berg remained unbeaten on 19 from 10 balls with 2 fours and a six.

Middlesex got to the target with 12 balls to spare, Dexter was the obvious choice for man of the match for his excellent knock.
