Cricket Update: New Zealand Cricketer, Jesse Ryder’s indiscretion gets the headlines once again for drunken behaviour
Jesse Ryder could not make the squad for the Sri Lanka tour for tri-nation series due to his elbow injury. However, he made the headlines with yet another transgression charge for intoxication. Another chapter was added to the troubled career of Jesse Ryder, when he was penalized for ‘intoxicated and rowdy’ behaviour during an indoor cricket tournament at a hotel in New Zealand.
In a letter to the New Zealand Cricket (NZC), the all-rounder confessed to the charge of misconduct. Ryder wrote that he admit of being inebriated and rowdy in the night. He further wrote that he understand his attitude has put the NZC and his own repute at stake and is not at all tolerable. Ryder revealed that the cost he would have to pay for the event, has distraught him over the past few weeks.
"I accept that being intoxicated and rowdy during the night put me in a position where I put http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 Cricket and my own reputation at risk and I accept this is not tolerable," Ryder wrote in a letter to the NZC. "The potential consequences of this event have distressed me over the last few weeks."

5 ft 10 inches tall medium fast bowler also revealed that he had already made an apology to the hotel management for his noisy behaviour. Ryder had been staying in that hotel with his indoor team. He said that he is committed to bring some positive changes in his life, as he really wants a long career as a professional cricketer with New Zealand Cricket. The cricketer revealed that he had been working for a long time to avoid any such misconduct.
This is not the first time that Ryder has been charged with misconduct allegations due to intoxication. In the past, as well, he has been involved into such indiscretion and the most serious one came on 24 February 2008, when he seriously injured his right hand, while trying to break a glass window in Christchurch bar at 5:30 am. The incident occurred a day after New Zealand had won their ODI series against England. Ryder, when brought the Christchurch hospital for emergency treatment, had also been rude to the staff demanding special treatment. It was later revealed that the player had been drinking till 1:30 in the night before their last ODI against England.
After recovery from the hand wound, he was recalled for the 2008-09 tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, he was dropped from the 4th ODI as he missed a team meeting on the day before the match, due to a late night drinking session and also missed the training in the afternoon.
The general manager of New Zealand cricket, Geoff Allott said the issue has been taken "very seriously" by the NZC. He said that the breach of trust and protocol has extremely disappointed NZC. He further added that the positive progress in his attitude in the recent times make the incident even more disappointing. However, he appreciated Ryder for informing the New Zealand cricket well in time about the incident.
