Cricket Update: Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 and his Failures
Ijaz butt adds a lot to the mockery of Pakistan cricket. Pakistan cricket has never been in so many controversies, as it has been in Ijaz Butt’s tenure.
It has been a string of failures. The PCB chairman, Ijaz Butt, is living in the world of bureaucracy, nepotism and egoism. He still feels that he is breathing fresh air, in the world of Stone Age. He will easily change any statement he made, and will say that it has been misinterpreted by the media.
Ijaz butt said, “Pakistan’s domestic teams will not be taking part in the champions league T20. Our players will not play the IPL.” Afterwards, he said, “I didn’t say this. I would want my domestic teams to play in the champions league T20. It has been the media, who has interpreted my statements.”
Ijaz Butt’s tenure has been a story of not fulfilling his commitments. The Sri Lankan cricket team agreed on visiting Pakistan in 2009, when no other cricket team was visiting Pakistan. Ijaz Butt promised them of tight security. They were attacked by terrorists, when the Sri Lankan cricket team was leaving their hotel for the stadium, on the third day of the 2nd test match. The Sri Lankan cricket team coach questioned the security, and the reports after the attacks suggested that it was big security laps. The result was Pakistan was deprived form the international cricket. Ijaz Butt promised Pakistan cricket fans that cricket will be back in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, but looking at current situation of Pakistan cricket, it seems far fetched.
Ijaz Butt’s ego is always above the country and Pakistan cricket. Any individual who suggests something that is good for Pakistan cricket has always hurt Ijaz Butt’s ego. Jeff Lawson, the national team coach was sacked from his coaching duties, after he opposed to Ijaz Butt.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Javed-Miandad-c66580, the director general of cricket board, resigned after his disputes with Ijaz Butt. Amir Sohail resigned as the director of National cricket academy, within 7 months.
Selection committee should be an independent body, but this is not for Ijaz Butt. He has been taking his part in the selection panel. He has been announcing teams on the behalf of selectors in press conferences. Ijaz Butt has been a selector rather than a chairman of the cricket board. As a result, Abdul Qadir and Iqbal Qasim resigned from their posts, as the national selector.
Top batsman, Younis Khan has been neglected by the selectors due to his conflicts with Ijaz Butt. Pakistan team needs Younis Khan. Younis Khan has been there premier batsman, but Ijaz Butt’s ego is way above the country and the team.
Pakistan, after the terrorist attacks on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 was deprived of being the host of the World cup 2011. Ijaz Butt first launched an attack on the ICC and then he withdrew. He suggested ICC to shift their world cup matches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. ICC refused to do so and, Ijaz Butt was quite the child.
It has been a story of bans. After the disastrous Australian tour, the chairman wanted to investigate the cause of the defeat. The players, on the tour of Australia deliberately underperformed. There was infighting in the team. Players did not want to play under Yousuf. As a result, 5 players were banned, but after few days, Ijaz butt revoked there bans. The players who were found guilty, on the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 were part of the team. The players who played for their country were not considered.
The recent story has been the match fixing saga in England. Three players, Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Amir and Salman Butt found themselves at the centre of match fixing scandal. Ijaz Butt, the chairman should have looked into the matter, but he said these alleged players are available for selection. ICC was challenged, and they suspended the trio.
Ijaz Butt should have punished the players, regarding their mishaps in Australia, but it wasn’t the case. As a result, the match fixing scandal emerged. It is surprising that Ijaz Butt, after all his wrong doings is still the chairman of the cricket board. Rather seems like the workings of a circus than a cricket board.
