Cricket Update: Pakistan Spot-fixing case- Mohammad Aamir intends to protest against ICC
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 fast bowler Mohammad Aamir who was suspended in spot-fixing case has decided to start a protest against International Cricket Council (ICC) due to constant breaching of his confidential information.
Aamir’s lawyer Shahid Karim explained that the fresh leak of the statements given by three officials – Pakistan cricket coach Waqar Younis, captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 and Major (retd) Khawaja Najam Javed to the ICC on the case, were spoiling his image.
"I have no idea who could have leaked out these documents but it does concern my client as he feels he is being portrayed negatively before hand," Karim said.
"We intend to lodge a protest with the ICC on this issue and on how these confidential documents are coming in public," he added.
Karim however expressed his hope that ICC anti-corruption tribunal which will hear the spot-fixing allegations against the three players – Mohammad Aamir, Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt, would not value the leakage of secret documents. In his views, the tribunal
will take decision based on facts only which will prove the guilty or innocence of his client.
Pakistani media on Tuesday had revealed the statements of three Pakistani officials Waqar, Afridi, and Najam which were favouring the allegations that the three Pakistani players had bowled deliberate no-balls during the fourth Test against England at Lord’s
in August.
The trio officials in their eye witness accounts to the ICC’s Code of Conduct Commission probing the spot-fixing case, have confirmed that the ‘bookie’ Mazhar Majeed had been visiting the team hotel to meet the suspect players – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salman-c88163, Aamir and Asif. It
was also reported that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mazhar-c75448 had been continuously visiting in and outside the hotel despite several warnings from the security manager Najam.
According to media, the security manager Najam stated that during the search of Mohammad Asif’s room, the bowlers seemed quite calmed but the other fast bowler Mohammad Aamir looked very upset.
"Whatever anyone had to say about the case they have said it, nothing can change that, but now the decision will only come through the tribunal," Karim said.
He further said that a strong defence was being prepared for Aamir, and showed his hope that the tribunal decision would be in favour of his client.
