Cricket Update: Pakistani legendary batsman, Inzamam lashes out at PCB for national team’s poor performance in England
Former Pakistan captain and legendary batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Inzamam-ul-Haq-c64383 has criticised PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) in severe terms for dismal state of Pakistan’s team in the England tour. Inzamam questioned PCB’s wisdom in exclusion of senior players from the team.
Inzamam also blamed the approach of PCB in handling the affairs of cricket. Talking to reporters in Lahore, 1992 World Cup winner said, “Selecting http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Young-c41367 team doesn’t mean ignoring the seniors as  a proper blend of seniors and juniors is the best solution to field a strong team in any series. But after winning the Leeds Test, the PCB opted for junior batsmen, overlooking the fact that the conditions in Nottingham are not conducive for our youngsters.” He also criticised PCB’s U-turns and questioned the wisdom behind such decisions. He said, “After the big loss in the first Test against England, the PCB has taken a U-turn giving Yousuf an SOS call.”
Yousuf, who earlier announced his retirement from international cricket after he captained his team to the disastrous tour of Australia, has been called by PCB for the ongoing tour. After http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s tour, PCB imposed an indefinite ban on him, which prompted him to declare his retirement. However, it seems that PCB has ran out of options after 354-run defeat of national side at the hands of England in Nottingham. Resultantly, they have called Yousuf to join the team in order to boost its batting credentials. Pakistan will be playing the second match of the four Test match series at Birmingham from Friday.
Inzamam, who captained his side at the 2007 World Cup in Caribbean, has criticised decision making process of PCB. He said, “In fact, it is all due to mismanagement and ill-planning by the PCB which should first correct its direction.” Inzamam, who played 120 Tests for his country, criticised the decision of team management and coaches to send newcomers such as Azhar Ali and Umar Amin to bat at number three and number four. He said that it was not their (Azhar Ali and Umar Amin) mistake that Pakistan lost match but of team management and coaches. According to Inzamam, Shoaib Malik and Umar Akmal should come at No.3 and 4 positions because they have the relevant experience.
Inzamam, who played most ODIs for Pakistan, suggested that PCB should employ a batting coach for national team. He said, “I have no desire to join the team as batting coach, but many others have expressed their desire for that position. And therefore, the better one should be selected.”
Meanwhile, former Pakistani opener Aamir Sohail has criticised late inclusion of Yousuf and Raza, who comes in place of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket will further become a laughing stock with these haphazard decisions. You don’t treat a player like Kaneria in this manner. If he was not performing, it was a failure of the coaching staff and casts doubt on their ability to help players.”
On the other hand, newly appointed captain Salman Butt has also jumped into frenzy. According to him, even experienced batsman like Yousuf cannot change the fortunes of Pakistan in England. Butt insisted that PCB should be patient with new talent. He said, “Whoever is in the Pakistan team is there because of his ability and needs to be given time to show what they are capable of.” Butt, who captain Pakistan for its first victory over Australia in 15 years, believes that it will take time but Pakistan will emerge as a stronger unit from current crop of players.
It should be noted that former captain and experienced batsman Younis Khan has been again ignored by PCB, despite the fact that he is currently in England with his county http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851. PCB will need to bring its house in order before the affairs of Pakistan cricket reaches it lowest ebb.
