Cricket Update: Pakistani skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292
Wasim Akram, the former skipper of Pakistan cricket team has said that the main reason of the national team’s poor performance in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754’s tour was poor leadership of Shahid Afridi, the skipper of the team.
While talking to a Pakistani sports’ news channel, Akram was of the view that the team had miserably failed to emerge against New Zealand in T20 series because it could not put itself as a single unit, and if this will continue, making an impact in the world
cup would be difficult for the team Pakistan.
The former skipper said, “Because the team is not playing as one they are facing many problems and their performances are suffering. One saw a lack of leadership in the team and the players also did not play to their ability and if they continue playing
this way then they will also lose the Test and ODI series in New Zealand.”
The former left arm fast bowler also held difficult conditions in New Zealand and the inclusion of a great number of inexperienced players in the team responsible for the display a below the mark performance. According to him, not having the pacers like
Muhammad Aamir and Muhammad Asif in the bowling attack was making the team to struggle on bowling fronts against the strong cricketing sides.
Sharing quite contrary opinion, Moin http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s cricket team, said that change of captain at a point when world cup cricket was around the corner could be a mistake. He said,
“It would be a big folly to even think about changing the captain now because the World Cup is now very close and there is no time at all for experiments.”
The former wicketkeeper advised Pakistan cricket board to stick to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 and Shahid Afridi as Test and one-day captains. He also favoured retaining Afridi as the skipper for the world Cup squad.
Moin was of the view that in order to help the players to perform their full potential, it was imperative to give them enough time and opportunity, so that they get settled in the team. According to him, consistency in the selection could mitigate a lot
of problems the green shirts had been facing.
