Cricket Update: Second Twenty20 match: New Zealand vs. Pakistan (First innings recap)
New Zealand thrashed Pakistan in the first Twenty20 of this series held in New Zealand. The first match was played in the Eden Park, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Auckland-c766. New Zealand won the match with five wickets in their hands. The second Twenty20 is being played at Seddon Park
in Hamilton and Kiwis have given the target of 186 runs for Pakistan to stay alive in the series.
Jesse Ryder and in supreme form Martin Guptill started the innings after Pakistan won the toss and invited http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 to bat. Ryder was caught by the wicket keeper Umar Akmal off the bowling of Abdul Razzaq on the very first ball of the match. Pakistan
was hoping to carry on with the momentum however; James Franklin spoiled the party for Pakistan. Franklin was promoted up in the order as a pinch hitter and with Martin Guptill he played flashy innings. Guptill was caught by the captain Shahid Afridi on the
doosra by Saeed Ajmal. It was very well judged catch by Afridi who pouched a top edge at midwicket position. Guptill scored 44 runs on 28 balls with the help of three fours and three sixes.
Ross Taylor arrived to the crease at the score of 91 for two in the eleventh over. In the twelfth over bowled by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482, he removed James Franklin who was caught by the wicket keeper. Promoted all rounder scored 40 off 43 balls and helped Kiwis to
set a decent target. Next man in was Scott Styris and he didn’t wait long before he started to hit boundaries. Using the home conditions pretty well, he spanked Pakistani bowlers hard. Styris hit some clean shots off Shoaib Akhtar before he was caught by Ahmed
Shehzad at midwicket. It was a slower ball by Shoaib Akhtar that fooled Styris who doesn’t get hold of it and got out. Styris scored 34 runs with a strike rate of 242.85.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 hoped after the dismissal of Styris that they might get back into the game however, that was not the case. Wicketkeeper batsman McGlashan walked in and joined his captain Ross Taylor. McGlashan, as the stage demanded started off with a flier and
hit the prime bowler Umar Gul for the boundaries. Wahab Riaz was brought into the attack to stop the run flow and as Afridi wished, Wahab got McGlashan plumb in front of the wicket. McGlashan played a nice cameo innings of 26 on just ten balls with the help
of some immaculate hitting.
Nathan McCullum and Kyle Mills were removed by Saeed Ajmal in the last over of the innings. McCullum was caught by the debutant Asad Shafiq at deep point, diving forward. McCullum played a reverse sweep but could not improvise the way he wanted. Kyle http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mills-c76321
was stumped by Umar Akmal on the first ball he faced off Saeed Ajmal. Ross http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 remained not out on solid 30, as New Zealand piled 185 runs of 20 overs.
