Cricket fans must not get carried away by Pakistan’s performance against Zimbabwe, says Jalaluddin - Cricket News Update
Former Test cricketer and now a professional coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jalaluddin-c65364, has said that Pakistan’s performance against Zimbabwe in the recently concluded series should not be taken as a benchmark by the cricket fans as the Rhodesians do not count against the tougher
opponents in International cricket.
Pakistan defeated http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 in the solitary Test match of the tour, three One Day Internationals and two T20 Internationals. As a result, they remained unbeaten on the tour, which is no mean achievement considering the fact that Pakistan fielded a very young
and inexperienced team against Zimbabwe.
On top of that, some of the youngsters impressed in the tour, which is a very good sign for the future of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket.
Jalal also admitted that it was a good tour for the Green Shirts but they must not get complacent as Pakistan team will have to take on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033, which is going to be the real Test of the team’s ability.
The former fast bowler said, “It’s a good achievement. However, it must be remembered that Zimbabwe cannot be the benchmark for judging Pakistan’s performance. We should appreciate the results and our target has been accomplished. But there is a tougher
series coming up.”
Jalal added that the performance of fast bowler, Aizaz Cheema, was very heartening as he played the role of a spearhead in the very first series with Pakistan team.
Pakistan opted to rest the main fast bowlers like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tanvir-Ahmed-c92718. However, the youngster performed exceptionally well in the absence of the senior fast bowlers.
The former cricketer commented on the performance of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898 as well, saying that he did a superb job but the all-rounder must prove himself against tougher oppositions like Sri Lanka and England.
“http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aizaz-Cheema-c961 was definitely among the positives. He performed in the absence of the other fast-bowlers and that was good to see. But the team management needs to work out a long-term plan for Pakistan cricket. Hafeez did remarkably well on the tour but
Zimbabwe are easy opponents. He needs to do better against tougher teams to show his true qualities,” added Jalal.
