Former Pakistani fast bowler and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/China-c40996’s present cricket coach, Rashid Khan, has said that cricket has been flourishing in China with every passing day, as the youngsters are showing great interest in the game.
As a part of joint venture of International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Rashid was appointed as China’s coach in 2006 in an attempt to kick start the sport in the country. According to the coach, he has seen huge improvement in
the game China, claiming that the things have been going in the right direction.
The Chinese are famous for their extraordinary talent in Athletics while their football side is also doing well at the international stage. Yet, the coach is optimistic will that Cricket will soon establish its roots in the country.
“The game has made tremendous progress post-2006 and it feels proud to be associated with people who are eager to learn the trade. Although cricket is getting popular but it is yet to be recognised as it is a relatively new game. But I am optimistic that
cricket will certainly make its mark in the whole country,” said Rashid.
ICC is also keen to boom cricket all across the globe. However, the recent step to restrict World Cup to 10 teams came under heavy criticism, as the Associate countries termed the move as a possible full stop to the growth of the game. Following a heavy
resistance by the Associates side, ICC had to change its decision and allow 14 teams in the mega event.
Rashid shared his planning for the enlargement of the game in China and said that the administration has been promoting the sport at school and college level.
Meanwhile, he lauded http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Javed-Miandad-c66580 for their efforts.
“Miandad has been very helpful because he is willing to assist us in every way. Chairman PCB Ijaz Butt too has been very supportive of China,” added the former pacer who served Pakistan in 4 Tests and 29 One-dayers.
