Cricket legend Wasim Akram criticizes http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482’s captaincy
Pakistan’s legendary left arm pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292 has criticised the way Shahid Afridi led the team in the Twenty20 matches of the ongoing New Zealand tour.
Akram pinned the blame of the series' loss on poor captaincy by the flamboyant skipper because he seemed out of ideas on the field and was also completely out of touch with the bat in the three matches that were played against the Kiwis. Pakistan only managed
to pull off a face-saving victory in the final T20 of the series on Thursday at Christchurch.
Akram, while talking to a TV channel, said, “One saw a lack of leadership in the team and the players also did not play to their ability and if they continue playing this way then they will also lose the Test and ODI series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754."
Akram suggested that it looked as if the team was not playing with unity; he said, “Because the team is not playing as one they are facing many problems and their performances are suffering."
He was doubtful of Pakistan’s prospects in this year’s World Cup if the national side kept on playing the way they were currently.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 are missing many mainstream players from the squad because of spot-fixing allegations. The suspected players are not eligible for selection in the national team until and unless they get clearance from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the International
Cricket Council (ICC).
Among other players, Pakistan’s bowling stars Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif are also suspected of their role in the spot-fixing fiasco. This has resulted in their ouster from the squad, which has literally crippled the bowling attack of the green shirts.
The Pakistani bowlers are currently finding difficulty in containing strong sides from scoring runs.
Speaking about the bowling woes of Pakistan the left armer said, “The bowlers face problems against stronger teams and we are missing Aamir and Asif who were developing into a world class new ball opening pair."
Amir and Asif along with Salman Butt are currently under ICC’s suspension from participating in any form of the game. The case of their alleged involvement in spot-fixing will be heard from 6th to 11th of this month. The hearing will
be conducted by an ICC tribunal which will decide the future of these players.
Apart from the suspended trio, three more players including middle-order batsman Shoaib Malik, wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal and leg-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Danish-Kaneria-c1314 are also waiting for PCB’s clearance. Apparently, the board wants to have details of the players’ properties
and financial assets to make sure that there are no discrepancies in their earnings.
With six players not cleared for selection, Pakistan is faced with a daunting task of finalizing the preliminary squad of 30 members for the World Cup by the 5th of this month.
