Cricket news: All said and done, can scandalised Pakistani cricket team win?
Last week Pakistani cricket team was struck with a horrific scandal, as test captain Salman Butt alongside with pacers Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir were accused of match-fixing based on the footages as the 3 players sit and chat with Majeed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mazhar-c75448, a well known bookie. Due to which the three culprits as veteran star Captain Imran Khan puts it, have wilfully asked their respective board for them to not play in the upcoming matches of the ongoing English tour of 2010.
This third-world country which was already under severe pressure because of the recent floods, as millions were displaced and thousands died. But the visiting Pakistanis to England had some good charm as they defeated Somerset by 8 runs at the County Ground, Taunton 2nd September 2010.
In light of the trio of players at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahzaib-Hasan-c2488 made a match-winning century. The victory over Somerset was mainly cause of the efforts of young Hasan and Fawad Alam, as they built on a 169-run stand for the fourth wicket. Alam fell three runs short to his century, as these two Pakistani youngster saved the wobbling innings at 43 for 3.
The sad and dreadful part of the entire match came once Umar Akmal, Abdul Razzaq, Umar Gul and Wahab Riaz suffered injuries, and might not be able to play at all in the upcoming twenty20’s. In the batting department only young Alam and Hasan are the mentionable, as veteran batsman Mohammad Yousuf was run out after striking 5 classy boundaries.
One might have thought that veteran 36-year-old bowler Shoaib Akhtar would bring some closure with his inclusion and come back to the national side. Akhtar also known as “Rawalpindi express,” is considered to be the fastest bowler at international cricket, failed to take any wickets, above all was not even allowed to complete his ten over spell by skipper Afridi, as he was almost nearing 7.00 runs per over that almost led to a defeat from a English A team.  Mohammad Hafeez as ever was economical with the bowl but failed to deliver in the batting department.
Fast bowler Gul was expensive yet effective, as he took 3 wickets; Saeed Ajmal and skipper Afridi paired up well together as Ajmal took 3 for 40 and skipper took 2 for 47. The Pakistanis like always will be relying on the bowling power in lights of Ajmal and Afridi, with hope that “Rawalpindi express,” finds his form alongside and  Gul’s injury becomes better.
The young Pakistani side will surely be a threat to the hosts also known for their unpredictable cricket throughout Pakistani cricket advent at the international arena. The English side would definitely try to dominate through their fast swing bowling attack, as Afridi’s credentials of being “boom boom Afridi,” will play on the English minds. Pakistani skipper, if spends a minimum of an hour at the crease, will increase chances for the visitors to ensure a win at Cardiff as the teams meet for their 1st of two twenty20 matches.
The deprived sub-continent nation will surely be looking forward for its heroes for bringing some joy and glory to the country after all the controversial scandals their cricket has gone through, and not to forget the floods which have destructed almost half of the rural population of Pakistan. Millions of Pakistani cricket fans wait for the 5th of September as the cricket team yet again enters the cricketing arena, with the hope of performing well, without match-fixers. Since these fixers have ruined the repute of Pakistani cricket; whether they are false or true the nation itself needs the team to do well, as cricket is considered next to religion in the region.
