Cricket news: Doug Bollinger and Mike Hussey set to recover in time for Tests
Two of the most important members of the Australian squad on tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 are set to recover in time and take the field in the first test of the two-match series.
The match starts in Mohali tomorrow and pacer Doug Bollinger and batting ace Mike Hussey are confident of unleashing themselves on the powerful hosts’ currently ranked number one in Test rankings.
Bollinger who had a decent two-match series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in England earlier in the year told the media that he was looking forward to the battle with some of the best batting talent in the world.
"We'll be right to go, we've got a good couple of days of training coming up and we'll look after ourselves and we'll be fine," said Bollinger, he added "We're a little bit tired, it's been a long flight, but we're good and we'll just chill out for a couple
of days and make sure we're right to go."
On the other hand, the veteran batting sensation Mike Hussey known as Mr. Cricket claimed that his injury meant that his preparations were not ideal for the match.
"It's not ideal, but it's the best we can do, we'll just make sure we're really smart the next couple of days and get ourselves prepared as best we can," Hussey said. "I'm sure we've got good background staff and they'll get us in
the best possible shape to get going for Friday.
He added that despite the injury concerns he has had enough cricket under the belt including the tour of England, which gives him confidence ahead of the Test.
"We've been playing cricket and training every other day, so it's not like we're coming in underdone or anything like that, we've got plenty of cricket behind us, obviously it's a totally different format but it's a mental adjustment
as much as anything. The next couple of days we've got to get the head right and get thinking more Test match cricket."
Hussey has had a slight dip in his form, since he led his team to one of the greatest comebacks of all time in the first Test of the on-going year.
He struck a magnificent hundred to help the Australians set Pakistan a challenging target on day four of the Sydney test after they were tottering in the second innings, with a mere lead of 51 and only two wickets in hand.
The hosts eventually won the test by 36 runs. On the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 and the return series against Pakistan in England, Hussey looked slightly off-colour and found the going tough in seaming conditions.
The two test series against India would follow the biggest contest of them all for the Aussies, when they bid to regain the Ashes at home in a gruelling five-match series against old enemy England.
Hussey who had a phenomenal batting average in the first part of his career has endured a dip in his fortunes, yet he has an outstanding average of 51 runs per innings in his 52 test matches with 11 hundreds.
On the other hand, Doug Bollinger is still learning the ropes, yet he has been impressive in his first 10 tests claiming 44 wickets at 24 runs apiece.
The 29-year-old is being touted as a bright prospect who can serve the Aussies for the next five years at least.
The series against the Indians, however, is a tough task for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rahul-c83321 Dravid on batting friendly wickets.
