Cricket update: Australia's inexperience not much of concern, Tim Nielsen
Australia Cricket team is in India these days to participate in two Tests and three One Day Internationals ahead of their tough winter Ashes. The Kangaroos, specially the bowlers are expecting the two-Test series a tough assignment for them but at the same
time the team and the management has turned down the prospects that the inexperience would hurt their chance ahead of exhaustive winter.
The probable playing XI of Australia will have four players - Ben Hilfenhaus, Tim Paine, Marcus North and Doug Bollinger - who have never experienced a single Test in India. The Australian Coach, Tim Nielsen, feels that inexperience is not a big issue as
the players who had not played a five-day match in India had been to the country in various capacities. Nielsen said that what matters in the end is the whole experience of a place – the journey, the fixated following, weather conditions, different food, and
different ideas etc. – and not only the experience of having played over there. He further added that the every member of the squad that has stepped in India this Sunday has been to the country for at least once in the past.
"I honestly believe it's not just about playing Test matches," said Tim Nielsen. "It's the whole experience - the travel, the fanatical following, the heat, the rain, different food, different culture, different ideas, and different ball. Our boys are lucky
to have experienced that before.”
Nielsen said that this time he is touring http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 with a better prepared side that has a lot of potential to win against any international side under any sort of conditions. Mitchell Johnson, Australian pacer, has been around for three to four years. Many
of the other players, visiting India these days, have been to the country before and have a much better understanding of the Indian Culture and the playing conditions of the country. The Australians had in the past participated in various forms of the game
including One Day Internationals, last year’s Champions League or to play various editions of lucrative Indian Premier League.
Tim Paine, one of the players who will be playing their maiden Test in India, has visited the country with the ODI team last year, while bowler Doug Bollinger has played with Chennai Super Kings.
Marcus North is also among the players who have never played for Kangaroos in India but have been playing in various domestic tournaments. North has played a lot of cricket in India, specifically Bangalore. The player has visited Bangalore twice with Western
Australia and a number of times to the MAC spin academy Chennai. North had also visited India with the A side of Australia before Australia’s last Test tour to India.
"I have had quite a bit of experience in the subcontinent, not at this level obviously. But I have enjoyed all my trips to India,” North said. “I have enjoyed the challenges of different conditions as well. It's not foreign to me. I know what's coming ahead
and I am just looking forward to the series."
The vice-captain of Australia, Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120, is looking forward to the challenge. Clarke said that facing off India in any form of cricket in any conditions is tough but the five-day encounter in India is even hard. Clarke feels that only by giving its
all possible best, the Australian side can win the test series.
The Kangaroos are scheduled to play a three-day practice match (25-27 Sep) against Board President's XI team to understand the conditions of sub continent ahead of their first test that starts from October 1st.
