Cricket update: senior players rest in One-Days against New Zealand, confirmation Indian official
The Indian Cricket team will be lacking all its senior players from the one day series versus the Kiwi side which is set to take place next month, in order to rest them for the hard tour of South Africa, as confirmed by the officials on
Friday.
The New Zealand team is scheduled to take part in three Test match series in India starting from the first week of November, followed by five one day international clashes towards the end of November.
The final one day match will end only a week prior to the South African tour which will start from 16th December, 2010.
The officials and management committee of the BCCI has decided to send the top players of India soon to South Africa after the test matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 so as to get familiar with the overall conditions over there.
According to one of the board official, Ratnakar Shetty, the demand to send the senior players early had come heavily from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Kirsten-c58527 who is the current coach of the Indian side.
"The plan now is to send some of the Test players early. The team management and the coach expressed the desire that there is a need for acclimatisation in South Africa," reflected Shetty.
However, the names of those players who will skip the One-Days against New Zealand and will travel all the way to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, have not disclosed yet by the selectors.
The number one Test side in the ICC rankings, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 has never triumphed in a test series in South Africa, who are placed second in the official rankings list.
With the T20 World Cup to be contested next year in South Africa, the management is trying its level best to give appropriate break to the senior players from the busy calendar year.
A couple of top Indian players including the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar have been given a rest from the ongoing one day tournament versus the red hot Australians. The local side triumphed in the second clash by five wickets after
the opening one was washed out. The final match will be competed on Sunday in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Goa-c786.
