The 31-year-old announced his retirement yesterday from international limited-over sport. However, he will continue to play in the longer version of the sport. The news came as a surprise for the world of sports as the right-handed batsman could have prolonged
his career.
Pietersen is considered to be one of the modern greats and is rated among the most destructive batsmen, who can change the complexion of a match within a short span of time.
Dhoni, who is considered as one of the most successful captains in the history of Indian cricket, hailed the performances of Pietersen since last seven years at the world stage.
KP played an influential role in the ICC World T20 2010 in the Caribbean and helped his team clinch the title. The great batsman was named as the Player of the Tournament in the event. He will not be available for selection as England look to defend their
title in the upcoming competition, which is scheduled to be the played in Sri Lanka in September/October.
The Indian captain is of the opinion that Stuart Broad’s men will miss the services of the hard-hitting batsman.

Dhoni further added that Pietersen is a trend-setter and such characters are great for the game. The wicketkeeper/batsman revealed that he is a great fan of the English batsman and also admired his performances in the fifth season of the Indian Premier League
